Big Bad Wolf 2013 : Preview Sale

Went to the preview yesterday. Drive alone to the Mines. Small personal achievement unlocked! ( Aku memang fail bab driving to anywhere else but KLCC, work, home )

Ramai la orang .. I only manage to snap this pic because hellooo... busy searching for books ok.. 

Loads of people.

I had went to two other previews before, and I have to say this one is the most crowded. My mood was not too great to begin with sick child at home, so I found myself staring daggers to those who block people way with their huge ass luggage.  Come on la weyy.. considerate sikit ok. 

I myself found it hard to navigate around quickly with the trolley around. So what I did, I park my trolley at a sudut of the table ( and I push it under the table if I can, so people can browse easily) and browsed 4 tables nearby. That makes it quicker and I don't get in the way of people. Time is of the essence! LOL. Also don't want to be stuck in the rush hour traffic, so I got out of there around 4 pm. It was madness during lunchtime, but slower afterwards. I can't imagine how the traffic in and out of the Mines will be tomorrow onwards. Good luck guys.. and if you bring kids.. I would advise to let them run around upstairs la ( properly chaperoned of course) . That's what I did last year when I went during the usual time.

Not so much compare to last sales kan. Bole lah. I don't have any particular author to hunt for and I don't feel like browsing much so I took this only. Refrain myself from recipe books because I know if I guna resepi, I usually ended up with the one I copied from blogs and online website and I bought one parenting books to feel good about meself. The one I am excited of is the on titled Matched I think by Ally Condie. I was always contemplating to buy it, and at RM8 now I can. L.C book and Robocalypse I had heard quite nice reviews, so I took it with me. The other one I bought based on the authors which I enjoyed before.

Manage to also get another of the True Blood series. So the one left in my Sookie Stackhouse series is the last 3 books. Nak tunggu complete baru start reading. ;D . I had made up the list in my phone beforehand so I quickly checked which I had and don't have then baru ambik. Kalau beli yang dah ade rugi!

That whole stack is the childrens book for little Ajis and his cousins. It ranges from RM10 to RM1. I didn't count, I think it is more than 10 and I found myself being very critical on what I wanted for him based on his likes and dislikes for books. So I think I had made the right choice.

The same stack but I include 3 other books. Eh Toy Story 3 box tu is like a board game plus other fun activity things I bought for Ajis cousins. Bergaduh la die orang semalam semua nak mende tu.... -_- . Yang kecik punye Toy Story 3 is for Aziz.. one of those fun educational little book. And Tick Tock tu one of those cuddly book for my 8 mos nephew who seems to like it enough. Kurap pon sibuk jugak nak menjengah.

Forgot to include this one in the stack so I took this pic separately. The only Malay novel I bought which is for my niece. She seems to like it. Moga-moga baca sampai habis ye Alisha. Buku I beli for her last year punye BBW pon tak habis baca lagi. Hope her mom also approved of this book, ( storywise, content). From what I gathered it seems to be about a girl who gets into MRSM Terendak and her story in that school. Since her mom ( my eldest sister) was an alum of the school, I think she would like it if her daughter read this book. My other sister also MRSM Terendak, while my youngest bro is MRSM Muar alums. Aku ajeee SBP . Sobs.


Oh about the books there. I think there is some lacking in General Fiction and Fantasy compare to other years. So I am a bit disappointed there.

However there is an abundance of Childrens book from the very youngs to the one who wish they are still children. Since I was concentrating on Children book, this was very satisfactory. I think half of the books there must be Children book. Wider selection of Malay novel and YA genres ( not so much on the authors I love) . Also there is a section for Agama. I didn't look at that section *shamefaced* . I think if my mom went again she might like the section for Agama because she was asking for it last time. So would others kan.

Travel section was sadly not to my satisfaction. Very little selection and nothing in Japan. Guess have to pay the regular price at regular bookstores then. Other section didn't look at it too much. Ohh.. there seems to be wider range in the pet section. Kicking myself that I didn't buy the Cat Expert book. Rugi laahh. Takpela kan. And seems to be a huge section in recipe which I don't glance.

Ok la. Nak gi lunchie. Last pic of Ajis and his books. He seems to like it. Kurap lagi sekali menyibuk. Takleh blah tul kucing tu. Huhu.

He likes that book that he opened. Asked him to choose which I want to read to him first sebelom tidur and he chose that book again. Win!

riang ria bersama bulus

Such a big boy now. Semalam die kena marah sebab main tarik2 baju. Lepas tu tanak tidor. So I marah die and asked him to lie down. Pastu die lie down and pandang aku jeling2 ok. Fuhh.. jeling2 marah rupa die. Tetiba terasa macam.. wah.. macam ni ke perasaan bile anak rase marah kat kite. tantrum tu lain. Tantrum tu is like me against the world... tapi marah jeling-jeling tu.. fuh terasa pedih di hati i tengok his looks of anger directed at me.

So I said to him I am not angry I just don't like it he keep on doing things when I say No. Then I asked him to hug me. Terus muka ceria dan bersinar bagaikan the sun and he hugged me and lie back on the bed suka-suka. Tapi still tanak tidor. Susah betul nak tidur budak kecik ni.

Other development thingies.. I guess it is hard to keep track. There is always new words he adds in nowadays. New way for him to show affection. New ways for him to appreciate food or enjoy playing toys. 

His current favorite toy is the one we bought from Borders. Sometimes bookshops, around the counter ni akan jual this weird things that if you put together it will looks like a bug or a car. He loves those. Tapi it is not approriate sebab phase tengok barang masuk dalam mulut tu masih ongoing lagi. So the only things that seems acceptable is those that looks to me if people wants to construct a DNA model, which just consist of 4 sphere and around 8 to 10 sticks that you can connect to the spheres. Susah nak explain laa.. but that is it la. Simple je.. but die sukaa sangat.

His batuk and kahak is back which is super annoying sebab musim hujan kan. Pastu jenis meradang kalau kena selimut. Tendang-tendang selimut tu. Bedungkan baru taw. Hope he gets better soon. Hoping this weekend would be a good weather bawak die so he can run around somewhere.

Oh regarding eating. Sebelom ni rase macam going into war je setiap kali nak bagi makan, tapi baru taw satu mende. He either likes to feed himself which depending on his mood, or makan bersuapkan tangan. Hahaha. Suap tangan rase lagi sedap kuttt. Asalkan makan la anakkk. 

Oh we also introduced him to brushing teeth. ( Kalau aii tak rushing laa) He likes to brush teeth. Tapi mostly hisap ubat gigi tu lepas tu kunyah2 berus gigi then proceed nak brush bath tub die to my annoyance. So sekarang baru pakai berus gigi tu for few weeks, berus gigi tu dah rupa macam kena pakai setahun!

Random

I always looked at some lifehack. If there is something I can use there to speedy up everyday things. One of those is that they used some sorts of stand to put your ipad on while you cook. While I don't think I can bear to put my tab directly atas when I am cooking sambal belacan.... I think for me lagi appropriate I put it somewhere near the sink whenever I have to wash a boatload worth of dishes. At the top I got one of those hanging thing and those are good enough for my tab to go into. I can watch my series while doing dishes!

Semalam our team at work have a team dinner at Majestic Hotel. Free buffet.. well.. I meant sponsored by company buffet! I really like it. The yakitori is really delicious. Some of the dishes as with many have their hits and misses.. but the Japanese selection is quite ok and really awesome. There are the usual sashimis and sushis and yakitoris and tempura, (only manage to get terung tempura je. people are really piranhas) but also ade udon and miso soup which I don't see lot in other buffets. 

The pizza and pasta we can order so it will be served fresh and hot, which everyone love. The Malay food is quite nice, for some.. udang die they said sedap.. I love the kerabu sebab they are not afraid to put cili padi in it. Too many time hotel food is kinda bland to cater to the mat salleh taste, but the Asian dishes are as spicy as what it should be. Not too spicy but it have enough kick la. It got a cheese platter to my delight, but not a lot of cheese. However I had now found a new way for me to enjoy cheese. Not sure if it is cheese snob approved. Cracker, cheese and dried fruit on top. Stupendously good when you chew on them! 

The service I like! Heard that in Saturday it won't be as good due to crowd tapi they are very fast as soon as we finished our food, they will whisk them away. The best is when I asked them to grill the yakitori and they informed me it will be ready in 10 mins. Before I manage to get the yakitori, they delivered it to my table. And I was sitting really far away from the station to. Excellent service taw. Harga pon is quite ok, compare to some. Tak sampai RM100 per person I think. 

Those are the desserts. Some are ok, some are I guess not so ok. The eclairs kinda cold. I hate cold eclairs. The chocolate in the mug thing is delish though.

Won the BBW preview pass. Will be going on the 5th. I still got loads of books unread so I will just mainly go to the children section and travel section then tengok2 if this time they got more for young adults... Children books in BBW sales goes fast I tell you. All good books will be snapped up quickly. 

Last week we went to Bentong for the cendol and ABC and the homemade local ice cream. Over jauh sangat. I did not enjoy the food so much because I forgot I get carsick. LOL. I rarely get carsick sejak dah jadi adult ni tapi it can happen if the roads are winding enough and if I am not sitting quietly. Sitting quietly with Little Ajis memang no longer an option sebab kena entertain budak kecik yang kena strap kat carseat. So I got to Bentong looking a little green in the face. Pbthh sangat.  So we had our ABC and cendol and the nasi lemak there, and an extra ice cream afterwards which Aziz walloped down.So I recovered enough untuk ajak husband to go to Chamang. Untuk ngusha je. We didn't bring extra baju and husband do not want him to play in the river just yet. 

Tak mahu share ice cream dengan mommy.

Asked him to pose dekat jambatan gantung there. I was petrified. He was ecstatic. Posing cool tak boleh kalah. 

More book reviews - romance and explosions. Not the same.

I got horrible headaches nowadays due to my eyesight. Can't see very well nowadays and I hope with the new and improved specs I will get very soon, it will correct itself. Sakit kepala weh. Went to one kedai spek mata and they got my prescription power tu completely wrong, and went to another shop because I no longer trust that shop. Husband said I should at least get a refund. Can I do that? It cost a bomb taw. Grrr. Lepas ni I will only go to kedai yang I know can do their job properly.

The Lost Duke of Wyndham by Julia Quinn

Julia Quinn is one of my favorite romance authors. Love her style. Her writing simple, precise, and the dialogue is witty. Most of the time.

I won't say much of the plot because like much of romance novel it goes the same way.. meet, attraction, conflict with some sex embroiled in it, ending with happily ever after.

However this is not one of my favorite. Maybe because I am like.. pbtthing Jack problem. He seems like a brat to me. I am not fond of brat. Grace could do better...

I don't feel invested in their love affair. If they end up together or not , could not care less. Grace is a wonderful girl, but I just ain't feeling it with Jack.


Synopsis for Mr Cavendish I Presume

This story run concurrently with the book Lost Duke of Wydham. I guess this is an experiment by the author, but I think she would do better to combine the 2 books to one.

Like a few other readers mentioned before... it gets tedious. Some of the scenes are the same, albeit with different perspective... but we had gone through this before, and since I read this right after reading the other book, most of the time I skipped some of the scenes because I already know what is being said and done. The thought process are different, but it really does not vary much.

So this book gets a little bit hard to finish because I already know how it goes, the journey, the conflict.

Like I said, would be much more satisfying if she had combined to 1 book as I really do like Thomas... ( and have a secret wish that he should have ended up with Grace.. pbtth)

In this book I am now starting really like Scarecrow. Before this he is kinda lukewarm to me. Mother had always been my favorite badass here, but Scarecrow had now blasted my ice wall ( That is what he do. He blows stuff up..). And Aloysius Knight seems like a sexy beast...


And I really, really like this book. I love that OTT castle of torture. And the chases that involved, rally cars, sport cars, rigs, armored cars, helicopters, fighter jets!!, warship!!!!!... it is just so ridiculously Michael Bay-ish it that you just have to join in laughing while reading and trying to imagine Michael Bay trying to top this in his film and just can't.


Matthew Reilly, I do love you. Never change.

KLCC Park

Awal Muharram tu I think it would be a good fun for Ajis untuk bawak die ke park...and duk pikir which park to go to. Oh I brought him to taman layang-layang kat MRR2 before this but I was so stressed out sebab orang-orang kita ni suka littering, anak aku ni pulak kaki pungut barang that half of the time is spent of me taking trash out of his hands! Stop littering people ok! So not going there again until Ajis dah over his phase of picking stuffs up from floor. 

Last time I went to JPO bulan lepas, there was a fountain of water and Ajis terus meluru ke situ dan basically have a shower with his clothes on,  lepas tu meraung bile kena angkat keluar...... so I suggest KLCC Park je la. Sepanjang hari adalah mendung because it was raining early morning. So it was a good day to bring the kid out to play as it was not a hot day. 

Manage to snap a pretty good pic showing on how much fun can be had. Perut anak akuuu. 

Dah la I forgot to brinig a towel, but I do brought him spare clothes and diaper and swimming diaper. So guna baju je la lap badan die afterwards. Seronok gile la. Left him with his father while I patah balik to KLCC to buy a drink and donut dan minum and makan sambil usha him playing while I am reading my book. Bliss I tell you. Though not for long sebab I sibuk jugak nak amik gambar die. 

The wading pool is very cetek, kalau little Ajis up to his waist je la, but still parental guidance at all times especially for toddler kan sebab at one time die main-main kejar-kejar and he fell back into the water and all submerged and could not get up. His dad was next to him and picked him up quickly and tepuk2 sikit dan he is good to go. 

It was a good place for him sebab the pool is just right for him dan he made friends easily. Ade this one boy who is probably 2 or more years old and looked a little bit like my cousin. Ajis was drawn to him. So die orang main-main together. At one point I saw Ajis keeps on poke2 the boy. Rupanye my husband told me that Ajis duk poke that boy punye nipple -_- . Curious gamaknye. Haha

Afterwards fun time in water bile bapak die detect Ajis pooed. Erghh. Quickly picked him up and nak salin kat toilet nearby. Harapan la. The condition of the toilet is erkkkk. I hate public toilet. Thank God the disabled one is working and semi clean so I cleaned him up there. Tukar baju and let die main dekat taman lak. 

Muka enjoice/in awe main swing. Seronok gile weh. Siap kepala tilt2 lagi ke bawah. 

Afterwards when he had begun to look tired we headed to KLCC for lunch la. Sebab aku malas nak pikir and the first restaurant I saw was Harrods Cafe we went there.

Ambience memang tip top la and got baby chair. The waiter likes Aziz and duk panggil2 die. Ajis ni memang pantang ade orang admired, terus jadi macam merak. Ordered pie and mash so I could eat mine with Aziz and husband ordered the meatloaf  . The meal was so so only la but I don't mind going again since I like the environment. Feels very relaxed there. Kat belakang Aziz tu ade banyak kek2. I salivate la thinking about it.. tapi decided to order the creme brulee sebab memang I pantang tengok dalam menu kalau ade creme brulee. 

I bawak his drinking cup when we go out to eat so aku tak stressed out die tumpahkan air.

Kecik ni je taw. Sudu kat tepi tu sudu desserts tu. kira kalau scoop 3 kali habis dah aku ngap. T_T . The taste was ok la. Not to die for, tapi tadekle tak sedap. Would try something else kut nanti. 

Anyway lepas tu jalan-jalan shopping mall, contemplate to buy balik Walking Dead... aku tak beli pon Walking Dead as I am not sure which volume I had it last and Aziz dah meraung nak susu dan mak die cerdik tertinggal thermos for hot water untuk buat susu. Nase baik nursery Isetan ade. So next time I bole tinggalkan thermos ( diaper bag aku berat macam bawak anak gajah kenkadang) if I go to KLCC so when bile decide nak buat susu I can head to the nursery there. 

Also from the amount of fun Ajis had going there, far surpassing of any other fun I saw him had anywhere else, I think we might bring him again to the park. If the weather is right. Tak jauh mana pon.

15 months!

Well yesterday anyway.

My husband and I were talking yesterday on how big he is now. Besar taw. And now he knows his own mind too. Very adamant when saying no. And tantrum thrower.

Bersama kakak Kurap yang garang. Baru-baru ni kena cakar kat hidung sebab pergi hempas buku kat Kurap. Kurap kan tak genial. Habis ade line. Meraung terus tidur. Nowadays he is wary around Kurap.

Also he picked up a bad habit from a girl at taska. The girl is a biter and he got bitten once. After that macam werewolf pulak die duk gigit-gigit orang. I think he didn't know it is wrong sebab after he gigit orang he laughed like it is the funniest thing ever. He thinks it is just playinig.. A bit hard to correct this sebab he likes to bite the cousins and not me. Once he did it to me, I scolded dan kira macam lecture him in my stern voice. Comel sangat taw bile I used that tone of voice tu. He knows I am not pleased, then his face would go all serious and nodded emphatically as if understood. Setakat ni no more biting, but we see how it goes.

Vocab not so much. His first clear word is 'Airrr' . I think he called me 'Mama'. And for other words he likes to rolls word out of his tongue when he heard unfamiliar words, but it is just a one off things.

 

He likes Lego a lot, K-Nex ( things that goes together and go apart can keep him interested for a while). I also just realized that he will only babbles around people he is familiar with him. Balik JB baru-baru ni my mom asked me if my son is bisu kee...Hahaha.. Only after a day at JB baru heard his voice.

I bought him a toy violin quite some time ago and left it unopened, a cheap thing bought from UO. I tried to play the violin in front of him one day and he was so excited and siap joget2 goyang2 bontot lagi. Haha. Sibuk nak ambik my violin so I bukak his toy violin. Excited la die try gesek. But it didn't produce any sound. Cuma bile tekan at certain place will play the usual 'electronic songs'.

Played it like a cello..walaupon terbalik. If you are good I will buy you a real one.

 

Oh sekarang ni jugak, makan nak suap sendiri. Tapi sebab makan sendiri tu macam lambat dan setakat 3 4 sudu sambil feeling2 buat mende lain, sambil2 tu aku suap gak. Huhu. *macam mana anak nak pandaii ni mak tadek patience*. I usually fed him at the living room, so my white carpet tu I replace with a rotan mat. Yang paling seronok adalah the cats.

 

Anyway... I am not sure what to write more. Typical day to day with him had gotten easier, he sleeps better nowadays. Still cengeng bile nampak mommy goes to the other room.

 

Oh.. hari Jumaat tu I nak hantar die ke taska. I let him walk to the taska sebab jalan tak sampai 5 min pon dah sampai. Anyway I saw 3 stray dogs lepak across the road from the taska. Rase tak sedap hati dah. Bile dah dekat, the dogs noticed us I terus la angkat die and dukung sebab dogs viewed small children as preys from what I heard. Tengok Ajis terkedek2 jalan kang ade die lunge. Dah la anjing tu tengah jalan depan gate taska tu. Camne nak masuk! Bile dekat je, terus one of the dog lari towards us and barks! I backed away softly with my  things in front and holding Ajis. Cuak wehh.. bole sangat anjing tu nak terpa. Just reminded myself to stay calm and walk away slowly. Kalau lari memang la kena ngap. So I diri la kat tepi jalan a little out of the way for several mins. Then I noticed yang anjing garang tu dah tadek. Walk quickly to the taska, hantar Ajis, tetiba the dog came running heading towards us. Menjerit la aku masuk taska tu jugak. Hahha. After the dog barked at us, she probably thinks that this is not such a good place to hang out then go elsewhere. Baru la boleh I keluar dengan leganye.

 

Ajis in all this? Memula die excited nampak doggy. He made some excited noise tapi bile anjing to datang barked at us he turned quite serious and silent. I guess he knows it is not safe. Nasib baik Aziz pon senyap. Kalau die meraung kee... I don't know what the dog reaction would be. Rase lemah je lutut after the doggie ordeals tu.

 

Esok cuti! Plan to bring him to a park, hermm.. need to think which park.

 

 



Great TV

Warning: US TV shows talk

The latest Good Wife eps was excellent. Josh Charles just hit all the right note. Menacing, disappointed, heartbroken, rage, confused. I love it. I think The Good Wife is one of the good show and if the story arc is sometimes disappointing, the acting never is. 

Sejak ade anak ni memang tadek masa untuk tengok TV. Tapi naseb baik ade pumping time, which usually I pump around 30 mins time lunch hour. Time tu la nak tengok series yang 40 mins ++, selalunye pakai straps, kemas beg and all that took me around 10 mins total, so it is just nice la kan. This year, the only new show I watched is Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Reign. Oh and Shields. 

 

I like OUATiW ( bapak malas type) because it is ever so whimsy. I like whimsy. I used to think I was whimsy before I know that people mostly regarded it as highly delusional. Still... I am a bit whimsy, only now I know better than to show it. Haha. It is even more whimsical than Once Upon a Time. I don't really like Jennifer Morrison character. Alice in OUATiW is kickass, a bit annoying, but overall likeable. 

 

On a sidenote I wonder why female tv writers tends to write female heroines as moony and have preposterous idea on love. I love Scandal and Olivia Pope is the MAN. She is an ultimate badass, but lame when it comes to love. I always struggle with her feeling with Fitz. So annoying that she is depicted that way. If a relationship is destructive to you, your being, moral compass, marriage etc. Leave it or stay and bear the consequences. But don't go all indecisive. Kejab ni kejab tu. 

 

 

 

Anywayy.. balik kepada topic asal. Reign is also kinda wonderful in a sorta fantasized historical drama directed at teens. It tells the story of Mary Queen of Scots. This is set in the Tudors era, but after Henry the 8th la. I love me some Tudors. So of course la I am watching even though the costumes are preposterous but very beautiful. It plays hard and loose with historical facts but apart from that it is fun, the location are beautiful, the cast a bit kayu especially the male actors tapi I forgive em sebab they are nice to look at. I wish they include other older hot looking dude. Ohh.. and Megan Follows of Anne of Green Gables fame is playing the Evil Queen. So of course I am watching.
 

 

The last one is Marvel Agent of Shields. It is kinda boring. But that is the usual with Joss Whedon shows. Like Dollhouse around eps 7 or 8 it started to get interesting. Buffy got kickass in Season 2 ( but that maybe just Spike). But the thing is, Joss Whedon' shows are known as having a slow build up. However I just can't seem to like Skye who is the lead female character. She got the Jennifer Morrison qualitylike where try as she might, I just don't like her. And also she is kinda bland, vanilla, no bite to her even when she is snarky. Eliza Dushku one note she is, is very talented in delivering snarky comments. There should be convinction in there!  I like everybody else .. hope it will rubbed off on her. 

The show is still trying to set up the Big Bad, so we are heading to the interesting bits. The one where the looked for people with extraordinary ability/things with extraordinary abilities are still kinda yawny.. so like I said working progress I guess. The thing is... I don't see Joss Whedon feels in this show. They are some tv creators that you just know their signature, Bryan Fuller, David E Kelley, Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes, Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson.. they all have their own 'feels'.. what is the word.. I am missing the word. I am sure I will get it like tomorrow, but right now,.. I can't find the word. Anway.. all these creators above and Joss Whedon included, when they created a show, you just know their trademark.. the dialogue, the scene, the cinematography, camerawork. But I don't feel Joss in this one. I guess he must be very busy with the next avenger and maybe just a big name stamped on a show run by his son or maybe it is just not very apparent. Oh well. 

I hope Shields get better because with a big name like Joss... it should. 

 

Oh talking about Julie Plec and Kevin Willamson, I am liking The Originals which I also watch. I think it is now finding its own feet in a short amount of time. Compared to The Secret Circle which takes 21 episode to really find its groove and Vampire Diaries for me, took 10 eps for me to go like... "I can't wait to watch the next episode". The Originals, now took 5 episode.

I also like Klaus apart from Mystic Falls, though I wish Caroline can be in here too. As the supposed love interest Cami, is ok laa... but not enough chemistry kut. I am thinking this show will stick around compare to Reign and OUATiW ( not many watch those it seems... sigh..)


 

Fasha & Puteh

Both died this month, Fasha 12 Oct, Puteh 22nd Oct which is today (ops.. I meant on this month, Oct, they died on 2011). I miss them.

I don't often think of Puteh because simply we had him for only a few months. But he was the sweetest cat. Rase takde langsung sesalan la bela die.

Wahh.. kete kuningkuuu. Rindu jugakk kereta ni.

Haa tu antara one of the earliest pic I took of him. Time ni die stray lagi. Suke datang depan rumah mintak makan. Lawa. I always had a soft spot for cat yang ala2 kucing siam ni. Mata biru. Macam my old cat kat Kelantan dulu.

I love Fasha fur. Susah taw nak cari tabby yang macam ni.

Masa Puteh tengah makan tu kat gambar atas tu, Fasha duk la perhati die dari sliding door. Haha. Biasala kan kucing-kucing ni territorial. Mula-mula Fasha paling emoism. Pastu jadi kawan. Main tangkap lipas sama-sama. Sekarang ni Gollywolly la champion tangkap lipas utama di rumah ganti Fasha. Kurap tak boleh pakai.. die nampak lipas, main-main kejab, pastu lapar datang miau-miau suh bagi wet food. Lipas tu lari balik.

Saje je post ni. Post kenangan. I missed my dearly departed cats and this is the way I remembered them after they passed on.

Monday blues sangat

I need to make mental notes that Ochado lemonade is the worst lemonade ever and to not buy it again. I kept on forgetting that. 

 My kid demam semalam and I lost my temper at him semalam sebab die merengek. That was before I realized he was not well. I feel really bad. Tolong bile besar nanti jangan hantar ibu muu di rumah orang-orang tua *start buat tabung untuk duduk retirement house best2* . 

Sebab die demam semalam , for the first time ever he slept 13 hours straight. Like wow. I even manage to mop and lipat baju and all. 

I will be munching a muffin after I finish typing this entry.

Kena buat documentation untuk training tapi malasnyee. 

Shit. I may need to plan for holiday in Singapore. *suke sebenarnye... I suke plan2 holiday ni*

Dan jugak my holiday tak banyak mana pon tinggal, lagipon sejak masuk taska, taska pon ada ala2 cuti semester. Husband pulak tadek, so cuti sakit I, cuti taska I. Bile cuti pon I malas nak pergi mana2 sebab malas nak drive with little Ajis strapped kat belakang melahau. 

Ade terasa nak pergi hotel memana dengan baby and just ordered room service and be lazy. Tapi nanti kesian kat kekucing. 

I get guilty leaving the cat indoor all if I am cuti. The cats can only go out bile I cuti sebab nanti kalau keluar lama-lama the cats merayap-rayap, balik and tengok pintu tak bukak, will go even further from home. 

I am not going to freak out if my kid prefer to play with make up or masak-masak or kemas-kemas rumah. I don't want to force gender specific toys to my boy. He likes to wear my hair band and he likes to play car toys.  I am ok with that. * I said this because I am deliberating to buy a toy broom for my son. Die suke  main penyapu... alang2 kan...* muehehe. 

My book reviews of sorts

Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult


The gist of the story:
An Amish, Katie girl give birth to an illegitimate child. The child died afterwards. The girl then held for infanticide and an attorney from the city, Ellie tried to help this girl.

Summary:
This is my first book for Jodi Picoult. I thought it would be too depressing because most of the stories I seen of Picoult seems to be dead depressing.

Well.. apart from the infanticide issue, it is not that bad. I guess why I picked up the book is because I am curious how they portrayed the Amish community here. A community who shunned technology is very fascinating. That keep me going. I like the book best when it is about the community.

The plot itself kinda flounders. Most of the characters are a bit one note. The main females character I don't really identified with. The only one I like are the secondary characters. Katie is weak willed in my opinion, while Ellie is a predictable hard ass city attorney. Sometimes I just feel like shaking them by the shoulder and yelled "get it together for pete sake!"

The story is exactly as the one I stated above, except some so called development character progress for Ellie which to me is no progress at all and predictable. I hated the ending. HATE. I feel it was unnecessary, as it is spoilerish I won't say it here, but really, it was a weak ending as I think it meant to shock but in turn kinda spoil the book to me.

Apart from my complaint, it was an OK read. Predictable, nothing spectacular, ok enough for a holiday read. Except for the ending.

David Golder by Irène Némirovsky
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

David Golder is the story about a self made millionaire who is now in his late life, living an opulent life with a greedy wife and far more greedier and giddier daughter. It deals with how at the late stage of his life and in the brink of ruins he is questioning everything that he hold dear or thinks he hold dear.

I bought this book because I enjoyed Suite Francaisse. This book is not for me. It is different from the unfinished Suite Francaisse. It deals of a man bitter disappointment and therefore it is a hard book to swallow.

However depressing I found it, and how one-note everyone is.. there is nothing wrong with the writing. Only the on the bleakness of it. If this is rich, I don't want to be rich. But even he saw it towards the end, it does not matter.



Area 7 by Matthew Reilly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gist? Shane Schofield is back again! This time he deals with adventure/shenanigans that happened in Area 7 ( US most secret base) while he was protecting the POTUS.

Because I can only think Matthew Reilly books in point form. I will write in point/short paragraph form.

Same as the other, very exciting. Action packed. Highly unbelievable yet entertaining.

I especially like all the genetically altered creatures lying around the area 7.

As somewhat mentioned by other reviewer, he likes to disjoint his action sequence. I have to turn back to the pages because I can't remember what had happened because he had cut with another action sequence experienced by other characters. I don't have time to read in one sitting Matthew Reilly!

I think it is cute that Matthew Reilly try to tack in some character development to the story, because while he called it development, I called it continuation. But.. I do like Mother background information. I imagined Mother is kinda like Sigourney Weaver in Alien 2. But more buff.

It is all shoot, wham, boom! But hey, I go in there totally expecting it. A light thriller book, with simple story and the only purpose for the plot is to move forward.

The Du Mauriers by Daphne du Maurier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A novelization based on Daphne Du Maurier, great grandmother, grandmother and father.

It is more on her grand mother and her father as her great grandmother already have a standalone book on her own. Her great grandmother, Mary Anne Clarke was a mistress to the Duke of York. Her grandfather Louis Mathurin married Mary daughter, Ellen. Louis Mathurin was a dreamer and good for nothing kinda person while Ellen is a person long disillusioned by life due to the exposure she got from her mother world.

She painted a critical look of her ancestors. I like it. I know of many Louis Mathurin and Ellen of the worlds and understand their struggle, and seeing it written it is almost she is only critical of Ellen harshness and not Louis Mathurin irresponsibility. However I must say she must held both of them in great respect because in that age, there is only so little a woman could do. Not everyone could be Mary Anne.

Her writing of his father is almost sympathetic and apologetic to all his failings. It was said she adored his father exceedingly and it showed.

It was a good read and a nice novelization based on a real life of bourgeois French and English people. Enjoyed it immensely and I always felt sorry for Ellen and Louis. Sometimes, women do have all the ill luck and all the responsibility.

Kelam kabut

Husband gone back to Turk early Sunday. On Sunday tu rumah macam kena tornado la budak kecik mengumbah. I only manage to semi kemas malam tadi -_- .

Baju tu.. Adorable but cheeky.

Little Aziz boy ni pulak suke tidur bangun-bangun, so agak susah to do things. Malam tadi la quite ok die bangun sekali je. Hari Ahad tu... setiap 10 mins.. Selagi I am not on bed, selagi tu die tanak tidor. And die dah tidur, I sneak keluar dan do stuffs ( sterilising, cleaning, washing of dishes..) tak sampai 10 mins die bangun and nangis. Sheesh. You know they always say enjoy your time now when your kid is clingy sebab bile dah besar they don't want to sleep on top of you, be hug by you as much. I always have to remind myself of this when he is being extra clingy at night!

Since baru lagi I am fending for myself, so tengah kelam kabut lagi la. However, it is ok, sebab usually I reached home lewat.. 7.30pm sampai tu awal la tu., my sister maid fetch the little boy from taska around 6 pm and she took care of him in the mean time and Aziz akan main dengan cousin2 die... so I usually have time to settle the cats need and mandi and solat bile sampai rumah. I usually eats at my sister house pon if I am alone. So I have help. Things are not bad. Kena adjust jee. Tak terbayang if sensorangg je.

But I know of other mothers who can do it, so I do believe women ni flexible. We bitch and moaned and complained this and that and thus... but if it gets down to it... we will manage. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going .. is what I think most women adheres to. Macam perempuan yang kena amik duit zakat sebab laki tak guna die duk main game je tanak keje. Mana boleh survive zakat je, mesti die kerja and all untuk bagi makan laki tu dan anak-anak die jugak. Cuba kalau perempuan tu keluar dengan anak-anak die tinggalkan. Mati kejung kat dapor kut jantan tu. Tataw nak buat ape. Tetiba masuk topik tu. Haha. The thing is .. most guys if tasked with being left alone with their kid will hantar their kid to kampung. Perempuan ni.. cakap je nak hantar.. tapi takut anak rindu laa ( cakap je anak rindu.. tapi sebenarnye kite rindukan anak) so hempas pulas jugak la untuk pandai hidup. Ni baru sorang anak.. kalau lebihhhh... kalau twin???

Macam pagi tadi, dah settle mop atas and dapur, mandikan anak, I pon mandi, hantar dak kecik gi taska, bagi kucing makan, baru perasan kunci kereta tadek. Kelam kabut cari.. then teringat I last put it in Aziz punye beg taska. Dah kena pergi taska balik dengan malunye hahaha. Naseb baik memang ada. Yang Aziz tu pulak, bile pintu taska tu bukak die first sekali menerpa pintu. Alahai kesiannye. Tapi dia tengah comot2 sebab die orang tengah breakfast, makan ape tah. Dah ambik kunci nak balik.. Aziz pon drama air mata balik tengok mak die datang tapi tak ambik die balik. Kesiannye.. Takpela. It is gonna be a long weekend nanti.

Gravity

Hey! I had time to watch movie dekat wayang at long last! Actually tadek la lama sangat. Last time I tengok wayang was World War Z. Zombies and Brad Pitt... it is an irresistible combination for me. 

Anyway sebab my husband akan balik semula ke Turk berkerja and I would take care of little Ajis sensorang after this. Hahaha. (Egads!) So die kasik wife die time alone untuk tengok wayang sebelom die pergi. Nanti kan after this susah laa. Bukan tak boleh.. susah.....

Ni dah paragraph ketiga dah ni. Saw wanna blog that I watched Gravity and here's my point form review sebab aku mengantuk tapi tetap nak blog. 

 

• What is it about. It is about space. About what can go wrong when you go for a little spacewalk. And you get lost or drifted away from the safety of the spaceship ( is that what it called? spaceship? )

• Quite a great movie but would be even more 'enjoiceful' if you watched in 3D. So I beseech you .. those who don't wear specs, see it in 3D for the whole gloriousness of it. It is meant to be seen in 3D pon . Kenapa aku tak tengok 3D? Agak sesalan.. tapi I hate holding the bloody glass throughout the movie if I want it to stay still . Sebab I wear glasses see. 

• A very good performance by Sandra Bullock. I am not blown away by her performance. I think she is a good actress but not great. She don't quite get me breathless. Actresses that can get me breathless is Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard. But it is a great performance, though I think if given to a more powerful actress, I would even be losing my shit together with Dr Stone. 

• The performance I am blown away by is George Clooney. He had always been a charming actor. He can charms the pants off anyone, hetero, homo and bi alikes. And this persona carried through here, but there is a little glimpse of  a great performance here and there especially when he have to let go. His expression breaks my heart. That alone nailed it, only that one scene carried the movie way up for me. I never knew he is quite a great actor and from that alone, I will look into his other dramatic role ( not Syriana, too boring.). 

• The story is GREAT. It started like most thrillers... light.. then when the action start.. it goes big. It slowed down, then it goes up again. Slows down.. and up again. Just when I start to think the story is kinda dragging it feet, the action start back up. 

• Summary. I would called it an action drama movie. More to drama.. but with a very well put out action that is a must see in 3D. So it is very worth to spend more sebab with all those things flying, floating around, I would imagine it would be very nice ( lagipon lagi lawa if the movie is dark kan..) . Tengok nyesal lagi tengok in 2D tapi aku tanak pakai spek tu okkk. 

Dah lama tak update about the bulus

Kesian la kan.. macam di anak tirikan pulak. Bukan di anak tirikan , tapi dah memang title anak bulus. Hehe. Sesekor pon lagi independent dari Ajis.

Tak reti buang taik dan basuh mangkuk makanan je.

Anyway... semua maseh ok.

Kurap cam biasa.. ade je mende berlobang. Telinga lobang, bontot lobang, ni kepala pulak.

Sikit je luka tu.. besela. Drama sikit tengok luka. Takut jadi macam telinga die hari tu, terus bernanah. Husband masa mandikan la perasan. So I put some betadine on it. Betadine is safe for cats ye, tapi agak2 la tuang tu. Better lagi dillute dengan air sikit before letak, tapi I tak dillute pon. Letak sikit je. So sekarang ni dah ok sikit. Kena perhati je la, takut bernanah. Bernanah kat kepala satu hal pulak nak toreh keluar nanah tu.

Ni mesti kes gaduh dengan kucing tah mana-mana. Kurap ni tak friendly dengan kucing lain mahupon human. Friendly dengan moi je. Dengan little Ajis pon die pandang selek jek. Macam 'hoiii sebab kau la aku tak boleh tidur atas katil lagi ok'. Ajis pedulik ape. Tapi Ajis pon taw jugak, with Kurap die tak mesra alam sangat. Sentuh pon hati-hati. Kalau dengan Bobby die tenyeh2 Bobby tu sesuka hati.

Comel je kan. Nampak inesen. Baik. Gebu. Putih, sesuci salju. Ptuihh. Sekarang buat perangai kencing merata-rata. Ingatkan sejak Fasha dah tiada , no more masalah tu. Sekali bole pulak datang. I had checked the pees, no blood. And tengok die kencing kat litterbox, no problem, kencing normal and laju, tadek rupa tahan2. ( kalau ko tengok kucing kau lama je kat litterbox, kencing sikit-sikit... better bawak gi vet. Mungkin ade batu karang . Batu karang can lead to death in cats, and in fact for male cats.. lagi prone untuk batu karang than female ). Panjang pulak bracket tadi.

Anywayyy... aku rase sebab I am Jackson Galaxy wannabe, ini adalah masalah territorial. I duk feed the strays depan pintu rumah, dan he saw the male cats come and go makan depan rumah die EMOISM. He don't like it that these cats came into his house, so he is peeing here and there and everywhere. So I stopped feeding the strays. (kesian... but sometimes I feed them outside the gate instead if I saw them but don't feel so guilty because neighbor all around rajin feed the strays jugak. Sampai ade stray pandai pilih makanan lagi. ).

Currently still tak stop peeing, so I guess the next step is to let Bobby go out one or two hour a day, kasik die mark kat luar rumah instead of ON MY SOFA. I am really hoping this would help because cleaning out cat pee out of fabric takes time I don't have. Bobby behave please!

Wolly?

Wolly baik je. Angel catified. Selain dari suke menginja pukul 2 pagi lompat2 macam arnab sana sini... no problem with Wolly. Die inquisitive. If memasak ke buat air ke, kena hati2. Die suke tetiba senyap2 datang. Hidu2. Hidu2 molek tak ape. Ni try jatuhkan mende yang aku potong tu la. Tumpahkan milo atas karpet putih ku laa. Walaupon angel, tapi kenkadang tu kena jerit gak la. Haha. Cuma kena adjust je la position letak barang tu kalau Wolly datang. Die memang busybody.

Paling tak boleh blah. Suke masuk bilik air nak minum air dari jamban. Eiii. Geram.

What they do is, they took in hundred of stray cats that was previously in Pandan City in JB and setup a shelter for these poor kittehs. They relied on people donation to keep things going and currently are struggling to keep up. I am not a volunteer nor an admin, however I had been following their progress and I think their cause is worth highlighting.

Muzium Negara

I went to Muzium Negara at long last. Last Saturday tu patutnye nak pergi KL Sentral je to settle my PTPTN. Habis settle, which took a while because there were a lot of people! (However I have to say, kudos to all of the young staffs there yang I can see that they had been working overtime but still smiling and if not, at least always replied back every enquiries politely).

Anyway, tadek plan nak pergi Muzium, but then Mahameru jam and we don't feel like joining in the fun, so we made a stop to the muzium. RM2 je pon per pax masuk. Sama harga dengan aiskrim kon yang dijual by pakcik aiskrim luar muzium tu.

It felt, short and like there is a lot more things that could be displayed. I am not sure if there were more, but we went to the Muzium Etnologi ( the orang asli punye exhibit which is quite nice and detailed) and the main building.

The main building have 4 different segment to it. ( I think). The prehistoric, the before penjajahan (Malacca, Kerajaan Kedah, Champa and all that), the colonial era and Malaysia now. 

Like I said, it felt like there is a lot of things that are left off, but it was better than expected. The display is interesting and uses technology in their display quite well to attract the young people. I especially geeked out seeing the Perak Man skeleton. That was cool. 

 

Though IMO,  our royalty could help to lend more things kutt... 

But.. Aziz seronok je. He behaved mostly and I think the muzium is more to us because ape budak kecik tahu pasal muzium pon. He does like cannon a lot though. I was not so mobile as period paid so bapak die banyak take over. He walked around having a blast especially since there are primary schoolchildren around to gush all over him. He liked that more than any cannons. Die sibuk nak ikut those schoolgirls tu. LOL.

By the end of the museum visit, die pon pengsan and we go home too, as we were wiped out too. 

Oh, the week before we went to Aquaria jugak, but no pics from my end sebab my phone habis battery. Only this from my husband IG je.

He is using my finger to point at the fishes. Sometimes he do that when looking at things in the tab. Mungkin die ingat ini adalah screen tab jugak.

 

I don't think so he quite gets the Aquaria. He did likes seeing the fish, but only if the fish swam really fast. He also like if the fish came right to his face. Apart from that, apa die tahu jaws dan ikan pari besar kan. Haha. Maybe after a year or two we will bring him again. 

I enjoyed Aquaria too, though I missed out on the Piranha feeding. Super bummed out. Really wanna see how fast they chow down food. So if you wanna go, try to see the 'show' you want to go to and go during that time.. or left feeling bummed like I did. ( Sebab mahal kuttt.. kalau harga entrance macam muzium negara pergi hari hari pon takpe ). 

Well.. it had been a while

So we had been maidless for around 2 weeks now. At first it was ok, then it got a bit tiring.. however I have not regretted in my decision to send her back!

Why did I send her back.. well come.. let me story mory lahh,

She did not listen to instructions at all. I asked her not to do stuffs, and she wont do it for a while then she continues doing it if she knew she wont get caught. She also alwayss talk back, on how she does thing is right. Which pissed me off. I know , I know she can explain but honestly, she always tried to cut me off in when I am explaining why she is doing thing's wrong. And if she got caught on why she is doing this thing wrong, she will said "kepala die pusing.." That is just the tip of the iceberg.

She rarely bath so she really smells. She is lazy, she don't help me out preferring to stay in her bedroom 22 hours out of 24 hours. Yes, in the weekend, she is out of the room at 7 am and will go back in at 9 am. And don't come out... unless going to the bathroom or cook for herself. She don't ask questions, even after many many many times I had asked her to ask me things first before doing or handling things she never handled before. Which is why I don't let her vacuum or near the washing machine, because she broke my rice cooker and kettle. It may actually be near to the point of breaking, but she never said anythinggg if things are broken. I just find it out of my own. For a while, she had a friend, and every weekend, she will be at her friend house from morning till maghrib. I am of the opinion that maid should have a day off in a week, but saturday and sunday? Ok. That is fine too if other days she did her job. 

The sink look disastrous. The table and counters are never wiped. She only sweeps and mopped the floor twice a week, and only at the living room and kitchen and not anywhere else., and not under the sofa or chair or tepi2 dinding. No.. I did that.. . If she do the dishes I had to do it all over again because it is still oily. And those are her dishes.. I meant things she cooked. She don't even have to wash my stuffs. 

Well.. those are amongst it. She did have her good quality, with constant supervision and direction she can be fast and useful. However I can't do that. I can't be beside her overseeing all the time. She also loves little Ajis, so many times I just let it be and malas nak bertekak dah, because thinking she did take of Ajis and seems to love him. However because during those trial months I am unsatisfied with her work ( the never listening to what I am saying part) , I sent her to jaga my son at my sister house. So my sister maid can also oversees. 

But the thing that broke the camel back so to speak.. betul ke, is the lying. If I caught her doing something that is not, she always denied vehemently when I know exactly she had been doing it. I can't think of an example right now, but it had been done constantly. She always lie, but never to the point of stealing I think. Which proves me wrong.

When we brought her to Bintulu, she got caught stealing some of my ipar stuffs. Before this people kept on asking why we are sending her back.. she is rajin... *ptuihh*. Yes. Kat rumah orang bukan main rajin lagi, if she is at home, duduk la die dalam gua die ( I called it gua because she likes to be in the dark). Tapi I malas nak explain.. I just haa ye laa. Then she stole some stuffs. It is not expensive stuffs, but it still stealing. 

She got caught. We didn't confront her with the stealing, rather than asked her where did the things go, when the things was found in her bag. She said, no she didnt touch anything. Fine. We went to JB and she got caught again stealing. Some money and some food. I didnt mind if she wants the food, if she opened it in front of us or asked us ke. What makes me even more angry is she always 'up'kan diri die cakap ... " Saya ni baik orangnye. Hati saya suci.. bersih..." . And this happened. Which  just proves words meant nothing. 

So yes.. before the stealing was unravelled I was long unsatisfied with her. I think she knew it too and it only makes her angrier with me and in turn me angrier with her. So before things get out of hand, I asked husband to just send her early and we put little Ajis in a daycare. Then the stealing happened. I am not sure if she did stole some stuffs from me, because when I noticed things are missing, I will asked her repeatedly and told her, "jangan cakap saya lupa.. I know exactly where the stuffs are" .. then she will produce that stuffs. 

I don't think so I want a maid anymore. It is bothersome and if in a stroke of good luck you get a good one, well it is good, but most of the time we were left with the subpar one. For mine, she can be OK if there is someone always overseeing her. Someone older. Because she thinks I am young, she ignored what I said, I noticed if it were my mom or husband she will listen more. Senang kata memang payah la. Tengok la, if anak kedua or ketiga I changed my mind. There is plenty of moms out there who can cope without a maid . For now I am struggling, but to be honest I think the house even if it is more kecah, is a little bit more cleaner.  I always more for sweeping and mopping that decluttering. Heh. 

So itulah my experience with a maid. I am not saying the whole lot of them is bad. I had been living with maids for years, my mom , my sisters semua ade. But I happened got the person who is unsuitable for me. My ex maid so to say, should be at a house where there is a lot of people and someone who is always at home to keep an eye on things. I am on the other hand, who is alone with baby cannot do that. Ah well la kan. 

Lif

Peristiwa no 1

Aku tekan atas. Ade 2 orang awek tekan bawah. Lif pintu ke bawah pon bukak. 2 awek tidak sedar. I panggil and tunjuk die lif dah bukak. Die orang pandang aku side eyed je macam I ni amacik yang tak layak dipandang bebetul and geleng-geleng indifferently dan continue berbual. I pon indifferently senyap je la tunggu my lif. Lif pintu ke bawah tadi nak tutup. 2 orang awek tadi baru sedar. Terus kecoh berlari arah lif dan cuba buka pintu lif yang nak tutup tu guna 2 tangan!! OMG!! So bahaya!! Aku tengok je....  Nasib baik bukak lif tu, kalau katup dengan tangan2 die orang sekali. Tak ke menyusahkan aku yang nak lunch.

Peristiwa no 2

Nak masuk lif. Dalam lif ade seorang jejaka metrosexual yang handsome. Die tekan pintu tu tutup sebab cepat gile pintu tutup -_- . Aku pon... "Fine ..aku taknak naik pon. Muka je handsome tapi kerek". Sekali tengah duduk dalam ofis... tengok jejaka tu jalan tepi.... hahahaha.. satu ofis yeee. 

Ni dedua peristiwa lif semua dalam masa lunchtime tadi. Ade moral of the story ke?
