In the 80s: We used to watch and have these....

Part 3 & 4: What we used to watch and what we used to have

Part 1: We used to eat

Part 2: We used to play

What we used to watch...

(Though I do think this is more of an early 90s cartoon)

Dragonball. I don't watch these.

Yups. I think those are the Power Rangers. I did watched it. It is quite as lame ass as Ultraman, but it is kinda a guilty pleasure. After the cast started to leave, starting from Amy Jo Johnson then I stopped watching.

Nothing in Power Rangers is cool. Especially after you watched your brothers re-enact those battle scenes.

Hikhikhik. Til today if there is Doraemon on tv, I would watch it. "Doraemon and Poket Ajaibnye". Love it. Especially the comic. Though the cartoonist kinda a paedo pervert for his persistent drawing of Sizuka in the bath or changing clothes.

It also make me always excited to see dorayaki. I will be always... OMG, OMG, Doraemon favorite food!

He-Man. Yeah. It was one of those cartoons muscle clad heroes wearing speedos loincloth waving around their sword.

Also I much prefer She-Ra. I was a feminist, even back then.

"I'm Popeye the Sailor Man..."

A tune that will forever emblazoned in your mind. Also I believe the only cartoons that make children wants to eat spinach willingly even though they grimaced whenever they are downing it.

I am one of those person. But I am also the type of child who have to clean her plates, so in order to do that I will imagine that those vegetables are something else altogether. e.g. Broccoli and cauliflower - I imagine I am a giant and I am eating trees as snack.

I used to love TMNT. But I always have difficulties in accepting them as heroes and salivating after April because they are turtles. And why are there turtles in the sewage again.

Guys swore by it.

I never really care about it. When I was small I was always annoyed whenever there is Transformers on. I would think why, why they keep on showing this while they could show Jem!

Little Smurfs. I could not remember why the villain keep on trying to catch them little blue people.

I did like it. But not so much. It kinda bored me abit.

I love Tom & Jerry. I never think Tom is bad. I think he is cute. I especially love the Tom & Jerry Kids, when Tom is a kitten and Jerry... well a lil mouse.

Tom is the cutest cat ever.

Thunder... thunder.... thundercat!

Remembered waking up early when I was in Australia to watch this.

Special Mentions:
Gummy Bear!
Denver the Last Dinosaur
Gargoyles (I love that)
Jem and the Holograms
The Jetsons
The Flintstones (Hate the movie though)

What we used to have...

Don't think so that I ever have the 'fruits' eraser as its a bit expensive.

I remember having the flag one. Slalu frust when you have to erase something cause it would ruin the eraser.

My pencil box was normal, but if a classmate have this pencil case, the kids would usually pinjam and menggodeh the pencil case opening up every nook and crannies.

I usually rearrange their things to places its not suppose to just to just annoy them. Heh.

Actually I am not too sure what this picture suppose to show. Pemadam pen yg hampes, yang hanya boleh koyakkan kertas? Or lousy metal pencil box that always dent and rust. Or those pencils? Or those little stickers which I admit I love.

Special Mention:
Autograph Books (I treasure my autograph book)
Name cards (Why would a 12 year old need a name card amaze me even now)

p/s: malas plak nak carik pics for the Special Mention.

In the 80s: We used to play...

The second part commence.

The first part: In the 80s: We used to eat

Nope. Never played this. Though I do like to pick up these toys from the floor or by the road. Sometimes I would imagine if my father would looked like this ( My late father was in the army) There is always these toy soldier toys lying around everywhere back in the days. Painful when trodden upon. Ugh.

I used marbles for congkak. I love the sounds it make when there is only one or two marbles being dropped into the holes. I kinda missed playing congkak. Would love to play it again.

Didn't play with this type of cards either.

Tapi kad ini saya layan. I still love playing this. Especially with my brother. He likes boardgames and cards. The fiance sometimes have to layan me and played with Boggles. He usually lose. Which is why he rather reluctant to play Boggles with me nowadays.

Remembered the times when you valiantly tried to do all those yoyo tricks you saw on TV?

It frustrated me to no end and by the end of the day, I declared that my piece of yoyo must be cheap and crap, therefore do not have the same 'power' as those the one in TV.

I like the first one as it stings when you shoot someone. *gleeful*

The second one kinda sucks as the suction does not work. ( Heh. That is a contradiction) We used it for reenactment of various TVs shows and ads, by sticking the suction on somebody forehead. THEN we pretended to shoot at em. Lame.

My sisters used to have this. My eldest sister then always made sure that her toys is in pristine condition. She said when they gave it all to me, I would most certainly break it or jadi ranap.

Super Mario! We would memorized where all the hidden bricks and gold are. The furthest I got is Level 8

The Western Bar thing... I only remembered playing the Sega one.

I can't remember what's it called. But basically we buy this little tube inside which have this rubbery stuff and put a bit at the end of the 'straw' provided and blow in the straw to create as what the picture depicted. How I love that. Making it to different shape, large and small.

The inane Ding dong and Tora toys. Like I said before, I was never a fan of them, and I always think it is lousy. But I remembered thinking that I wouldn't mind it too because all other kids wants one. Peer pressure at its best! But I have to say I never bought the stuff with my tiny allowance.

Of all the lousy and excellent toys in the list. This is the best! It is free (just shred the middle papers of your exercise book) and we just made up anything to put in there. Its kinda like "Make Your Own Adventures". Except much shorter and very silly. Girls usually put things on who do you like and what you like and if you are pretty. And the girls would usually coloured the paper nicely to make it much more presentable.

Eh... I don't play rock, paper, scissors as a game. More like penentuan. Who is going to go first. But come to think about, I did like to play this with my brother. Though he always maintain that 'pistol' sign is absolutely legit in this game.

I don't play this. These are guysss stuffssss.

The paper plane only did it in class when extremely bored.

Even today, I like to blow bubbles. Like to see children played with them. And it is also oh so pretty. I always nearly stop whenever I see someone blowing bubbles ( you know the salesman yang menjual pistol bubbles tu di tepi jalan-jalan yang sesak). It is just so pretty to gawk at.

Teng-Teng. It makes me wonder if my nieces and nephews would know of this when they get to be 8 and 9 years old. Apart from the usual plane 'design', we also berlumba-lumba to invent other's design for Teng-Teng. Like ice-cream cone design, square design, weird L shape design, and some design that is just too preposterous to hop about with just one leg on.

Special Mention:

Lompat getah is also one of my favorites. It is a jump rope made entirely of rubber bands. Love it!. I always practice to achieve the highest jump, 2 jengkal dari kepala. Totally keji. But its the rule. Ade yang mendengki, nak buat 4 jengkal, but us head honchos stamp our feet and said 2 jengkal is more than enough.

We also usually had an argument with the boys in my KB (Kota Bharu) neighbourhood as they keep bugging us to let them play the getah too. We were adamant, saying this is a girl's game, but we relented.

I remembered during time SPM, we were so frustrated and stress at the asrama (boarding school), that we decided to play lompat getah. Unlucky for us, one of my friend sprained her ankle during the one of the jump. Even at 17 we were not as agile as when we were 7 eh. Knowing that our strict warden would lecture us for hours for acting like little girls, we lied and said that she fell in the toilet. Poor her have to hobble through the SPM weeks. That is the last time I ever play getah I think.

Picture Source: Kampung Boy by Lat
Galah panjang. The reason we relented for the guys to play getah back then because they were needed for us to team with in galah panjang. The picture alone warranted no explanation. Hehe.

I am one of the favorites to be pick as a team members back then, as I can run quite fast and was tall, so adalah sangat bangga. (My height today is almost the same when I was 11 ok)

Batu Seremban not one of my favorite, but after practice and understanding on how the game is played, I am quite adept okeh. Haha (Mende-mende meraban cepat je tangkap and nak je practice).

I think it is usually played unti Batu 10. But we take it further to 15. There are even Batu 20. It involved some pretty complicated juggling tricks.

I guess there are others such as bottle caps, tuju/baling selipar, cucuk-cucuk taik lembu (or is that just me) , tin throwing, konda kondi and sepak bulu ayam but I never or rarely played those games. Talking about these games, make me remembers stuff I had previously forgotten. Good times indeed.

In the 80s: We used to eat...

I got the below from an email and although I kinda detest copy and pasting lame jokes onto blog, these I cannot resist (and its not even a joke anyway). It just make me smile.

It is so long and there would be some finger-scrolling exercises to do but it is all in pictures! So don't lose heart! Update: As it is quite long, I think I am going to divide it to 3 parts. 1 part per post. This would be easier for moi to update.

Also I couldn't be bothered to edit it nicely to put the pictures in 1 nice row and I rather want to put own comments next to the pictures...

I remembered a whole lots of junk foods that we would just shuddered if we would want to eat it now, but selalu berulang alik kedai makcik, scraping at our tabung to buy some of these stuffs.

I love gums. I love them even today. I have a whole 'container' filled with gums in work place.
These 'bear' gums is da best when blowing bubbles. Always bought them at show off my skills in blowing bubble to my little brother who then had not yet master the skill.

*confession* I penah stole that 'grape gum' from a supermarket. *shamefaced*

Coklat ni masa kecik-kecik macam best biler dimakan. Sebab die slightly mahal sikit dari biasa. And it tasted a whole lot better than Tora.

Even when I was a kid I was not impressed with "Tora datang lagi" nor "Ding dong". The toys are lousy. The chocolates 'lemau' and I think it cost RM1, which exceeded my daily allowance of 20 cent per day. It is pitiful, but enough to buy a polluted glass of 'air sirap' and seketul kueh at the canteen (This was Kelantan. You can get things dirt cheap there). My mom ever the economical preferring her children to bring their own food. So sometimes I used the 20 cent to buy ice cream shown below.

*I even volunteered at the "Free Food for Poor Children" scheme in giving out food for the poor kids every recess time as volunteer gets to eat the food too* :D Even when I was small I was an opportunist and like to eat.

Put it in a freezer to make an ice lollies! It is too sweet, but nice only when it is chilled or frozen.

How do I eat my biscuit icing (What do you call this?)
1. I grabbed a handful.
2. I ate all the colorful 'icing' first.
3. Then I proceed to eat the biscuit

I have no idea what this is nor do I ever had seen it. Anyone knows?

Special Mention: These are not in the email I received, but I love these junk foods to bits except for Choki Choki.

I never like sweet chocolate. I like my chocolates kinda bitter. But these are my friend's favorite. But after they finished with it, UGH. Looks yucky meh.

One of my all time favorites. The amount of coloring and whatever stuffs in there can make a health freak, freaks. But this is seriously nice. I indulge in it too once in a while. When the mood strikes, selalu beli from bai roti.

Favorite flavour: Milo
Second favorite: Asam boi

Heavenly especially after coming back from school in that harsh afternoon sun. Dan juga time-time ponteng puasa di belakang rumah makcik makan aiskrim beramai-ramai di tepi longkang.

Note: Serias, I took your aiskrim picture from your Fotopages yar. Her mom is one of these entrepreneur. Slalu suke amik satu dalam fridge whenever we singgah at her home.

p/s: Part 2 coming in tomorrow. Malas dah menaip. It would be nice to make this into a tag, but the amount of copying and pasting pictures would put people off for sure. But it would be nice to read what is their memories on this junk food.

Its cold inside, hot outside.

It's really incredibly mind numbingly cold in the office. Sometimes the cold here make me feel like I am dumb. Like my brain is frozen and needs considerable efforts to thaw for it to function in the speed required for works.

Planning to watch Wall-E tomorrow with the spammers lot. Yeay!

Had a lunch of fried chicken. I always pick the breast as its the meatiest bit. I bought it from Giant. It is cheap (though the price had increase from RM1 to RM1.49. Ouch!) and I usually only want only one anyway. Perfect. It also do not have random stray hair in it, unlike the piece of chicken I bought at a local pasar malam. I always have such lousy luck when eating out. Even when eating at a high price restaurant yar.

Am currently enjoying Middlemarch. It is even hard to put down. Shocking. But I am still at the beginning of the book.

My new boss is... eccentric? weird? goofy? I don't know. But he has a little part of all that. And some more. I found that I hate to be alone with him. But I hate to be alone with anyone anyway. I prefer to wait for an empty elevator to not be stuck in a small enclosed space making small talks with people I barely knew.

I am looking for vegetarian sausages. Will look at Giant or Pasar Tani later as I really loveeee sausages (do not make this into a joke.... :P) so this would be a slightly more healthier option for moi. Maybe some salsa sauce alang2 tuh. And relish. Did I mention again how I also love sandwiches.

Sejuk

Ramadhan month is nearing and the 'replacement' puasa sudah pun habis. But probably I will be fasting for a couple more days for the nazar one.

With Ramadhan month also nearing, I am craving for several things to eat before the Ramadhan month, which are Subway sandwich, Chillies and a slice of pizza from the Yellow Cab. Have not yet try it out. Am curious, maybe I will try to walk there on Friday lunch. Am lousy in deciphering directions.

Bid-bid boy is not at home as the replacement maid is still not here. The house is again quiet. How weird that with just 1 child in a house, a house seems a lively thing to be in. Too lively at times.

Puppy Love

The previous post was a non-post. Saje-saje je meluahkan perasaan.

Heh.

Well... after finishing with the Geographer's Library, the next book on my list will be Middlemarch. However looking from the size and the author, it is probably gonna be a loooong and need a bit of a push read. So before delving in, I picked up those stupid, fluffy high school buku cerita first.

I love reading those. It is a quick read. 2 hours the very least and 1 or 2 day the very most.Hoho.

You know the formula aight. Girl long for a boyfriend. Girl have a 'meet cute' with a boy. Some sort of misunderstanding happened. e.g. Girl thinking guy like somebody else (this is usually the case). Then they totally get together.

Well... that kinda book is really really enjoyable, if you have the need for a light reading. Well this book I bought from the Payless Warehouse Sale is just the right amount of fluffy high school type of book that I love. Oh yes. The Payless Warehouse Sale kinda sucks, but it is very cheap. Just that buku yang dijual tu is not to my liking. And that is the only decent high school romance book. But I did bought another 2 books. I forgot the titles, but both stories are set in the WW2. There's a lot of that kinda book; story books depicting life during WW2. I dig that kinda stories so I bought 2 books for my trouble in rummaging around the many, many books sprawled on that table.

Back to the book. So the book is predictable enough, the girl like the boy, the boy like the girl. Voila. Seems like it is happily ever after.

Closing the book and chuckling, I was amuse on the ease of the process in being boyfriend and girlfriend.

Boy: "I like you"
Girl: "I like you too"

Then there would be some mutual understanding on how both are going 'steady' with each other and planning to see the movie next weekend and plan the whole of their life together afterwards.

It reminded me of zaman sekolah with all its 'nota cinta' and all the scriblings of "Mrs David Beckham" dulu2 tho I despise writing Mrs {insert name of high school crush/bf} from zaman sekolah lagi. Macam nama kau tak important nak adopt nama org lain plak.

I remembered zaman-zaman sekolah menengah dulu, if people say a simple I like you. Tada! Considered as couple. Easy eh? There is no incredibly inane statement like "I like you, I really do like you, but the thing is you and me can't be together as I am not too stable now".

The only problem then is professing your feeling to the other party. Now, profess feeling pon tak cukup. Have to be this la, need to achieve that la, need to know each other for 5 long years la, have a lot of space la. Alasan je sume tuh OK. Kalau tanak tu, cakap je tanak. Takyah mengade-ngade cakap.... "saye sukeee awak... tapi, tapi , tapi..." Boleh blah.

Ehem. Ter-emoism pulak.

But the thing is in the teenager years, ade juga automatically assume sendiri sudah couple. Declare aje kat diri sendiri without feeling the need to tell the girl that she is now his gf. I mean they are like, after telling the girl they liked them by giving surat yang telah diberi oleh 3rd party, they will then automatically assume that girl like him too. And sesiape berani nak ambil the gal, kena jumpa belakang toilet/surau/kantin. "Kita settle cara lelaki". LOL.

I remembered when I was in Form 1. I received this surat "mahu berkenalan" (chortled out loud) from this guy A. Then I received another surat from another guy B. Then tak pasal-pasal kena marah as why I am talking to this guy B, when I had received surat guy A and A had said he liked me.

I was like WTF la weh? Bile pulak aku setuju jadi girlfriend die? Suke-suke assume sendiri aje.

After that guy A do not ever want to talk to me again as I had konon-kononnye betrayed his trust. I did continue to talk to guy B; but no, we were never a couple and he was very sweet though quite dumb. However, sadly guy B do not live to see adulthood as he died in an accident when he was in Form 5.

So, high school romance is easy eh, and easily forgettable and painless. After we move away from school that it start to get complicated, horrible, thorny and painful.

Which is why I never regretted any guy I dump when I was in school. LOL. I am sure they are very happy and very contented, today and had completely forgotten me.

The Geographer's Library

Good morning/afternoon/evening good readers.

Welcome back to another round of a sorta review of my sorta opinions on yet another book.

The Geographer's Library is I guess the type books that got hyped by the readers who swore by Dan Brown when the Da Vinci Code fever was araging 2 or 3 years back.
  • It got the right formula.
  • An age old ancient secret about to be discovered.
  • A seemingly ordinary person stumbled upon the knowledge.
  • The quest of arcane/antique objects.
  • People gotten killed because of this knowledge/arcane objects.

So it sound just about right, the story started nicely enough... it started to get confusing and boring and frankly. I couldn't be bothered to care about the characters.

I am going to summarize this story complete with spoilers, but those who want to read the book, will no doubt care very much when they got to the end if they know the spoiler or not. A journalist at a small town for a small weekly newspaper are responsible to create an obit for a seemingly lonely, eccentric old professor of his. So the lonely, eccentric professor is more than just a professor but a guardian of long lost objects.

This objects seems to hold the key of an immortal or longevity of life but it never really specifically say so. At first the story went on fine enough, it is kinda like Gaiman's "American Gods" where 2 plots/stories running parallel with each other. One stories told of the journalist investigation of the professor, the other is how the objects are collected. The latter one, was at first interesting. But then the objects are collected. It was painted as mysterious and sought after. Tapi what it do, why its being constructed, why the hell it even preserve the life of the bearer is not explain.

Then in conclusion, the secret of the immortality (the point of the whole story) is not even these 15 arcane objects! It lies solely in a tablet supposedly from Prophet Abraham (I think that is what the story assume), and that tablet is the reason for longevity or immortality? But it never also really say???? How? Why? Gah! And what's the use of telling readers of these 15 arcane objects? What is their use being held together by 1 person? Gah! Gah!

The other stories that run parallel is how the reporter quest for the truth, found the truth, know the truth, doubt the truth and feel completely ...... I have no idea too. Perhaps its the author ideas to let the endings as open ended. But at the end of the day, I just feel that it just a waste of my time.

I hate stories like this. I hate stories that seemingly seems to forget what they are talking about. Like you spent 150 pages writing about pigeons and suddenly the last 10 pages you are giving conclusions about eagles.

I am fine with open ended endings. Some Japanese authors seems to master it very well in fact. But we understand this, we understand that the ending is an interpretation on how we view the characters and their actions and consequences. If this is what "The Geographer's Library" wanted to convey, the author did not convey it very well. Or either he just got tired of writing and quickly seams a hasty ending.

So Kenyang One

Bah!

So hard to be on diet when mom is at home cooking you several delicious dishes. My mom is the type of person who likes to cook and cook several dishes at 1 go and cooked like a football team is coming over after a match.

So far, none of her daughters inherited her talents. I am by far the worst. I do not however think woe is me. I tried cooking and I know it would never be my hidden talents. My future husband would be either too fat and miskin from eating outside food or too thin because he could not down my cooking. I am aiming for thin, as I never really fancy eating nasi campor outside.

Gah! I am so full. Anyway, I am eating a tad bit more rice than usual and feel like puking. This is not even a dastardly huge portion. A portion that any healthy men would scoffed at obviously, but I can't down that portion nowadays, but I won't beat myself too badly as before dinner I downed a Filet-O-Fish and swore to myself to only keep on buying beefburger after this .Gah! Hate Filet-O-Fish.

The fiance and I decided on a McDonald dinner (snack for me... teeeheee), as I need to bring my really filthy car to the carwash. My favorite carwash is the (dulu ProJet, now for the life of me I can't remember what it is) carwash at the Petrol Station where it have McDonald and hot men washing away the cars with their muscly arms covered in suds and shirt dripping wet. Wahahaha. That sounds like a sentence from a Mills & Boons novel. Now what brought this 'gatal' sentence around? Now, most of the car wash around KL are manned by those 'Bangladeshi" or Indian or Nepalese or mane2 la they came from. So are this one, and the usual type are there, but there is this one guy who is SERIOUSLY smokin hot.

Now, I rarely meet a real flesh and blood man who is truly HAWT. Even if I would ever meet James McAvoy in person, I doubt I would called him hot ( I am enamored by him, not totally blind, so that's fine Effi, I know his dick is short). Now, those who know me, know I love those Hindustan movies. (I heard gagging out there, don't judge. ). Most of those Hindustan hero is so-so, SRK is passable (but he got such cheeky smile and twinkling eyes), Hrithik Roshan is blah, Saif sounds like a duck, Salman Khan needs hair plugs. Now the hero Hindustan who are truly hot are John Abraham and Arjun Rampal. (Strangely, hot as they are, their movies bored me to death.AND. I know, I know, I will kill myself tomorrow reading this post for admitting to the world on my obvious adoration of Hindustan and Hindustani Adonis).

Ok. This hunky guy that is washing my car. He looked like John Abraham and Arjun Rampal rolled into one. He got the most perfect hair I ever seen real life. A tad bit oily praps, but he worked himself a sweat going over those car, I won't hold that against him.  And his body is almost perfect. I do think he need to cut down on those McDonald Coke a bit yar. Chiselled chin, deep set dark eyes. Hellooo Hindustani producers! You let yourself a hottie away here!

My fiance rolled his eyes (prolly he is still rolling his eyes when he read this post) whenever he saw me grinning like a dimwitted fool when we are at the carwash. Bah! He understands. I would let him drool over some hot chicks or model later. One that is truly hot OK! I would be insulted if she is only passable. But really, I can't help it. I rarely, rarely would find/found a hot man. *pssssst... I do think my bosses are hot too, but bosses don't count* (Even in my brief holiday time at UK I thought, none of the guys looked hot or even good looking. Except one, but he is REALLY short. Almost my height. And he kept smiling at me. I think its mostly prolly he was pleased that he finally met a midget too ). But really, when I saw him, my head goes like MAN CANDY! MAN CANDY! MUST LOOK AND GRIN LIKE AN IDIOT!

Idiotic Dila.

p/s: Ugh... still kenyang. And what's the big fuss over 08/08/08. Pfth!

Lie to Me. Make lie you love me.

The above is a line in a lyrics to one of Devic's song.

So I was listening in to the Mix FM breakfast club thingies this morning, and one of their show nowadays featured a segment on lie detection test.

You nominate who's the one you want to put in the hot seat and stand a chance to win RM1000.

I don't know if this is only a gimmick or if real live person would really want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, figured out by some machines and broadcast in radio. The past participants was kinda fun. Questions on beauty and model related thingies (By Amber Chia) or by driving related questions ( a fun pair of father and son). But today participants is kinda painful to hear. And it is the truth universally acknowledged, that absolute truth is painful. Or is it a single man in possession of good fortune is in want of wife?

Basically, a woman came and put her husband's secretary on the hot seat to participate in this lie detector test. The wife suspected the husband is having a hanky panky around. First of all, if I am this secretary I would flat out refused. But she agreed to reasons unknown, so the lines of questioning goes like

" How long you are working with this person?"
" Do you spent many hours non-working hours talking with your boss about non-related work thingies?"
" Do you talk about his marriages?"

It then came to a point where the wife had almost accuse the secretary of an affair with her husband, but the test prove(?) the secretary is not the one her husband spent all the gifts and away time together. And the wife goes like "Ha! I know its not you..." I have to laugh at that. When it came to THE question if the husband indeed is having an affair and if the husband is currently on holiday with his mistress, the wife is now in tears and saying she don't know if she wants to know the truth. (The secretary meanwhile pleaded the wife to not ask anymore as she might lose her job, which I quite sympathize with too)

Pietro cut this fun time and saying that they would need to have a discussion with the wife and secretary as this lie detection test segment for today obviously took an unpleasant turn. I also did not listen further as I need to get out of the car and get my ass off to work.

So anyone listening to this too? Anyone know what happened next?

First of all, I am intrigued of anyone wanting to put themselves or anyone else on the hot seat for this lie detection test. I would not want to tell the truth nor hear anyone tell anything and it being broadcasted for the whole Malaysians to hear. And if it were me, you would need to drag my bloodied corpse onto that hot seat. That's the only way you can get me there. (Now, don't get any ideas okeh).

And of course why would you want to ask someone on national radio to hear the thing that may break your heart? And if you do not want to hear it, why would you subject yourself to this? And does the radio station decide to air this segment because they know it is juicy and set people like me talking in their blog or they really are surprised by this turn of event? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Also, would you put yourself on the hot seat to win yourself a RM1000? Would the truth be worth it? I don't know.

So lie to me, come on, its easy.

p/s: Oh, also all the names that were used during this segment is not their real name to protect their identity.

p/s: And where is Ika eh nowadays. I noticed that she is not on for a while, thought was on leave.*shrugs*

As a Mummy fan

I have a confession to make. I watched the Mummy Returns first then love, love, love it. Then I watch The Mummy and love even more of it. Brendan Fraser even for a while make me swoon a bit. Kinda like James McAvoy now ( I just have to bring him up, see. It is a compulsion) . Le sigh. But of course remembering the George of the Jungle (Yikes! That movie is just painful and I know that movie is earlier, but still it is bad.) and his hair plug, the idol phase is just for a little while. However if I am bored, I can watch and rewatch the Mummy and the Mummy Returns with enjoyment.

The Mummy third. How can I say this, it kinda bores me. I don't know it might be another external factors that make me feel restless and tired and sleepy. I woke up early that Saturday and had an outing with the family and carrying along my 7kg nephew around (ok, I only carry him around for a while) so I was kinda exhausted. I was thirsty and the line at TGV beverages and popcorns counter is much too long for me to bother. I was a tad bit pissed that we had to queue at the booking counter line for 20 minutes for no valid reason I can think of at all.

So all that does not make me a happy gal entering that cinema. Back to the Mummy 3 again. Let's start with what kinda make me go hmmm about it.
  • - Alex is kinda kayu.
  • - I was distracted on how much time had past since we last saw em that I spent 10 minutes during viewing time trying to guess the kid's possible age and Rick O'Connell possible age.
  • - Maria Bello (The New Evie) does not seems like Evie. But she does look kick ass holding a gun. She however is not believable as an absent minded woman who loves history and mystery.
  • - WTF with making Evie as an author of a M&B type of books? I only saw her love for history surface for like 5 minutes in the whole movie.
  • - I miss Rachel Weisz immensely.
  • - Also miss Oded Fehr.
  • - Alex and Lin love side story feel forced.

The nicer part
  • - Like the other part in the Mummy movies, I love the story-telling part at the start of the movie. If it were a HK movie, it would be even more kick ass, but nowadays they would probably try to make it all weepy and drama-ey. Blergh.
  • - I still heart Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li, even though they are getting on the years now. Oh and Russell Wong is kinda hot.
  • - Love the Imhotep club.
  • - I like the battle scene between the terracotta warriors and the skeletal rebels. It is one of the fun part of the movie.
  • - I still like Brendan Fraser. Though I don't heart him as before.
  • - If only they would bring the butler along with em to their adventure.
  • - I love the Yeti. I want them as pet.

All in all, I think its the weakest of the three. The Mummy and The Mummy Returns was kick ass. Its fun and exhilarating the whole way through the movie. This movie kinda bore me a bit. Though I might want a second viewing of it, when I am less irritable and thirsty. I may change my mind, but I will prolly still think that its the lesser of the first 2 and I would still compare Rachel Weisz and Maria Bello to death (even though its not fair and she did her best).

And... who actually live at the Shangri-La? The monks and the yeti?

Alone and Lonely

I am not in the mood for some light things today. Feel like doing a thing that I haven't done in the longest time, expressed my day to day frustration in this blog. Here it goes.

I feel like every day I am pretty much alone. You know how it sounds, you surrounded by people but you never feel more alone than you are then. When we are in the best of moods, we rolled our eyes whenever we heard that statement. Because it is sooo cliche, so overused. But if so many people said this thing, maybe, maybe it really is true.

We can only be struck by how alone we feel when we surrounded by people who talks animatedly to each other, but we can't get a word in edgewise. Because, it feels like we are in the outer rim of it. You keep that smile plastered on your face but inwardly, all you feel is going home and just lie down and not think.

Outwards, I am a kinda friendly persona. But the thing is, being friendly is tiring. It is not my natural traits. I am by person a quiet person especially with the people who don't know me too well. And thats the thing, maybe because who I am, I rarely get close to people. If I did get close, I am a chatty bunch. My fiance and some of my friends can attest to that.

But what I want to say is... making friends, or trying to get into that circle of friends you haven't been in for the longest time is the most tiring thing in the world. You'll search your mind relentlessly of things to say. Then you just stay quiet because the thing is there is nothing worthy to talk about.

I feel day by day my friends are slipping away from me. I tried perhaps, not my best, to grasp at that really thin lines of friendship, but even the efforts is trying.

I get mad at the slightest thing. I get mad that whenever people get away together they didn't ask me. I get mad that they think because I don't want to or I can't it didn't suffice the effort to cajole me to join them. I get mad that I am always the last in thoughts. Oh... don't worry. It sounds unreasonable. I usually reasoned myself sternly of this childish thoughts. But there are times, it just came and I let that horrible feeling washed over me and here I am wallowing in self pity. (Please, just let me wallow some more)

In reality perhaps all of this is my fault. I never tried hard enough in term of human contacts. I am lazy to reach out. I am introverted and love nothing else but to sit at home and watch Medium. I don't try hard enought to keep in contact with my friends. But, sometimes I have to ask myself. Should it be only me? Should I always be the one to initiate? Does that mean that people don't like me? Sigh. Maybe it is. But I guess I should tried again next time. Hey you, you that is wallowing in self pity in front of the laptop, snap yourself out of it and ask your friend out for lunch? Maybe, not today eh.

Sometimes I just feel... maybe I am not cut out for the world. Maybe I just need to dig a hole and just lie there and go out once in a while to just feed myself and procreate :D

p/s: How self-pityingly eh... takpe. Gah! I allowed myself for some self pity time today, will snap out of it in 30 minutes time. Let's see what Cracked have further.

Cats and Mess

At first this photo was meant for my IG story, but the mess is too much. So I opted not to, and in a whim decided to just post it here. Beca...
