Another Stray Kitten

Heard her wailing for the whole night and woke me up several times. Come morning went out looking and I found the source standing shivering, soaking wet near the drain. It rained heavily last night kan.

I think its a her. Usually I just know without needing to look at the backside for the telltale bump.

Bath her for a bit, which she does not appreciate (ye lah kan, dah la mandi hujan malam tadi, bile pagi mandi lagi), then I blow dry her with a hair dryer her which she does not also appreciate. Miau macam petir ok. Badan je kecik, bergema-gema rumah bile die miau. I left her to dry on a pile of old rags.

Don't think so will be keeping her as my sister had voiced out disapproval. So I pesan to the maid, bile dah kering, put her outside back again. Before I went to work, she was sleeping on the rags.

Sigh. Macam SPCA pulak kan. Tapi comel. Macam Fasha masa kecik-kecik.

Updated on 22/10: Kitteh after sudah dried was let go and never seen since. Prolly back to her momma. (And I hope that is the case)

Am back

And my eyes hurt as hell. I mean that literally. Bukan sebab ade perkara tidak senonoh mahupon menggelikan berlaku di depan mata.

I think there's something there and it hurts when blinking. Why am I telling you this? Why the hell not.

Budak opis gelak-gelak je cakap balik keje 1 hari jee la dalam minggu ni. Esok dah cuti balik. Sebab itu aku suke. Hehe. So semestinye mood nak keje tu kurang, tapi kene la sedar diri yang diri ini senang untuk direplace so kena la berkerja sket kan.

Anyway will belog about KK later. Not much to blog sebab semua orang taw what KK looks like and done far more exciting thing than moi there. So kalo sempat aku belog la. Tak sempat. Too bad. Tapi bukan hari ni. Hari ni.... tah.

Later.

Freaks and Geeks

Never seen the series but heard it was cool.

Anyway, I was hanging around some other people blog when we came upon a discussion on online dating and one of the guy mentioning he is doing something in neuroscience. Genius y'all!

Now, not here to talk about online dating, but the neuroscience bit. Basically the blogger gave an option of 4 boys to choose from and one of them mentioning he's doing the neuroscience bit and many girls in the comment agreed that the blogger should pick the neuroscience guy. Obvs, contrary to popular belief, geeks rule.

I myself have a soft spot for geeks or the really awkward guy. Seeing them all bumbling, shy and smiling nervously make my heart melts and I usually like to talk and joke with them. But the thing is, usually these geeks only have the hots for really gorgeous girls dan aku hanyalah sekadar the ears to hear their woe. Heh!

Anyway, hear my tale! Few years back dolu-dolu, I met a guy at my first workplace. He was nice enough, shy and bumbling. I like him but I don't like LIKE him. But I treated him nicely, as well as any friend might do to another friend. Then he resigned to work at another place and as usual with many resigning colleagues, phone number exhanges are being done with promises keeping in touch that are never kept. But he did kept in touch with me when he move to another office.

At first it was fine enough. Then he began to get annoying. First the random missed call at random times. You know how it is, people missed call you with the intention of the call should be MISSED. Annoying aight. But I was fine with it. A few times I called him back asking if anything was the matter or if there's anything he want. But it is always the occasional "how are you" bla bla bla things.

Then he began to ask me out vaguely. Like " You are free ke this weekend?", "Tadek plan ke esok..." But I always make up excuses. I had no interest in him and I do not want to hurt him by going out with him and me still being uninterested.

One fine day, I remembered it clearly, I was at KLCC. Noticed a missed call from him again. I just sms again asking, if anything the matter. Then I got a shocking sms along this line of "Jom la kite beromen". Wow!

If indeed I was in the mood for 'beromen' I don't think so I will be persuaded by that kinda line wouldn't I? I deleted his sms and blocked and ignored his calls from then on. About a few weeks of me not replying to any of his forms of communication he kinda get it and leave me alone afterwards.

I am not sure of his intentions of the sms, if its a joke or not, but I was put off by it. Not to mention insulted. Just show you that sometimes even the awkwards geeks or freaks have their douche moments.

Cormac McCarthy : The Road

Mencuri masa membuat book review sebentar, before I totally forget it. I had been meaning to write, but forgot because I finished reading the book during Raya holiday. When Kasapsky mentioned about writing book review, then I remembered!

About a year ago when I was IMDBing Viggo Mortensen, I heard that a film was being made based on a book from Cormac McCarthy, The Road. I never heard of the author before, but the synopsis caught my eyes.

Post apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son over a period of several months, across a landscape blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed all civilization and, apparently, most life on earth.
Synopsis from wiki.

Post apocalyptic tale intrigued me (One of the reason why I love zombies film). I couldn't say much about the plot or story because they way it played out is exactly how you picture it. Father and son, walking on a road in search of a better world. I can even guess how the ending went.

But the point of the book I believe is not for thrill or mystery. This book gave me nightmare. It sucked you in, make you feel hopeless and the world is empty and devoid of humanity when time get desperate. There are time, when I have to literally put the book down because I feel suffocated reading it. Maybe it is my overactive imagination. But I tell you, I find it rare that a book can evoke so much hopelessness when reading it.

The character in the book does not have names. It is just The Man and The Boy. As if when the world end, nothing about you matter but survival. There are many other pointed symbolism in the book, but I am not going to act all clever and comment it out (You should read a comment from a smart ass in IMDB, it just boggles the mind). Some I kinda get, some I don't but that is a discussion best for book clubs. And I couldn't be bothered to join one.

Summary of review: A book like this is hard to recommend. It is worth it when reading it, you get why this book the Pulitzer, but I would say read it for the experience of reading it.

Penguin Warehouse Sales Loot!

Gotten Gaiman new book, Graveyard Book for RM15!

Gotten M is for Magic for RM15? Or RM10? Can't remember but still cheap!

Gotten Kitchen Confidential for RM10!

Gotten both of Holly's Inbox and its sequel for RM15 each!

Gotten The Tales of Beedle the Bard for RM10!

Bought Little Women sequels for both books at RM10 each!

The other books I am a little less excited about but am truly interested in trying out Trudi Canavan Black Magician Trilogy. Got that at RM10 a piece.

This time at my husband insistence I brought along a shopping bag (the free cloth bag you usually get when you go out shopping) to put the books I want to buy there. When the bag feel heavy I know it is time to stop. Also going there a bit more sensible in trying to find books by authors I really like, and limiting the books I wanna try so I won't regret when I find myself reading books that are a bit 'meh'.

V. happy. At least I can cross off some of my book's wish list.

1. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
2. The Wolves in the Wall by Neil Gaiman (though this is because I can't find it)
3. M is for Magic by Neil Gaiman
4. Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman (yes, we detect a pattern here. But with the number 4, end the Neil Gaiman books that I want)
5. Holly's Inbox by Holly Denham. (And its sequel)
6. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame Smith.
7. Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
8. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain
9. Comics: Fables Vol 5 (currently) by Bill Willingham and so forth
10. 1001 Tales of Arabian Night (In Kinokuniya this is selling for RM800++. Insane. But this is the 18th century unabridged one which also made for some painful reading).

Man. A lot that I had crossed off. Though, Fables is still ongoing so I never going to cross that off, and Persepolis I haven't finished reading yet because Borders is not stacking it anymore (Pbth! Ya think they're onto me now? ) and 1001 Tales of Arabian Night I kinda got with the classic edition of the compilation for some of the tales. Wow. Maybe I need some new list? Believe me that I had already started on that starting from Maud Hart Lovelace's on her Betsy-Tacy books.

Anyway, see this stack of books again and I think it is worth it.

Not pictured are 2 children's books I bought for my anak-anak buah and 1 recipe book. When queuing up to pay my husband looked at me and said "Buku-buku ni cukup setahun ok,". Geeezz. I promise to not buy any books for a year unless tetiba I found Matthew Reilly's new book that are selling cheap or Mary Janice Davidson vampire series that I am collecting or some really cheap authors from my wish list and Fables doesn't count. Hah!

You guys can still go there. The warehouse book sale is there till 11th Oct. Eyeris blog include a map on the location of the warehouse sale. Thank God I am going to KK the next weekend or I will be tempted to singgah there again.

The post of no concluding point but one

Its been a few years down the line with this blog.

Honestly, I don't know what to talk about in this blog as I now choose to keep most family and personal matters out of ere( so that people reading this blog wouldn't be offended but I may talked about some. Heh),. But we had rehashed this topic already aight. I will keep on spewing whatever stuffs I can muster about. Those of you who cares enough to read and stay and comment, will continue to do so until you feel bored about the whole thing and move on to the next more interesting thing.

Now, I want to talk about other blogs. Let's be honest. Before this I used to read other blogs religiously. Popular blogs like Suanie, Waitterrant, Kenny and Xiaxue. Suanie up to this point, I enjoyed but she blogged less and less now. All the others and some other notables I am not mentioning I had stopped because mainly of the 'celeb' status or Nuffnang. Waiterrant have good writing style still and so does the others. I am not here to hanker on their writing or blog style because you all know I have none.

I am of course only a person out of a million who blogs. But the thing is, nowadays I am enjoying reading blogs that have none of the followers of these 'celeb' bloggers do. I even like Xiaxue. I find her crass, opinionated, thoughtless but damn she is entertaining. But the thing I found that turned me off is the 'adverts'.

I kinda cringe when seeing 'adverts' on people blogs. The bigger they are, the worse it looked to me. But I totally understand that people wants free $$ so I unclench and STFU and just continue reading. I 'clenched' further when these big ass adverts now come animated. Moving, getting bigger when scroll over, and some even with sounds. Sigh.

But the worst is when the advertorial post come in.Its fine with one or two post in a month. But it seems to be nowadays, out of 10 post. 8 are advertorial, 2 are not. A bit much. Then the invites to events because they are 'celebs' blogger. Invite to restaurants. Invite to parties. Invite to premieres. While they are saying it is fun, it just scream adverts to me. I am a bit turn off by this. Maybe jealousy? Maybe, because I know I can't have what they have. But dudes, it is just not interesting anymore.

Back in the days, people are getting excited if their traffic generated 100 hits per day. (I have yet to achieve this, and resigned myself to always having 20 readers per day. Teehee) Nowadays, people are clamoring over Nuffnang (which is the BIG thing now) in blog posting, to get invites and adverts and such. Now before people start screaming "YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS and IF YOU DO NOT LIKE OUR BLOG, STOP READING." (Ain't that the mantra for bloggers nowadays? ) I did state, maybe I am jealous and I still like your blog.

But I am just getting sick of adverts.

Which is the reason I stopped reading Kenny Sia. And some other notables. This is even a don't do or do kinda post. I am just whining that I don't like reading advertorial post because I know I can't have these stuffs for free yet I am too 'mengade' to not subscribe to Nuffnang and my post is mediocre.

Geeez. The point is again?

Raya Post Mortem

Dah kembali ke office. Feeling very very blues. Kenapakah tak cuti sebulan!

Anyway. Sebab macam busy, I will do my updates briefly in bullet points!

  • Berat badan - Aku horror. My brother last week telah mengeluarkan penimbang (which someone given me as a wedding present. Adakah itu hint untuk aku turunkan berat badan?). My husband paksa aku timbang and I was AGHAST when my berat skyrocketed 10 kg plus. Rupanye husband yang saiko yang gi tekan penimbang tu dari belakang. Takpe saya telah membelasah die. Berat badan tetap naik tapi tidak begitu horror. Tapi still aku horror.
  • Gambo Rayo - This year my Bro in Law asked a friend of his untuk amik gamba beramai-ramai. We never had such gambar you know. Well, never in recent history. I think the last time I saw such gambar masa zaman muda-muda. And alang-alang, all the family menantu and adik beradik going to be there, bile lagi nak bergambar begitu. So we did.
  • Makanan raya adalah seperti biasa. Rendang, sate goreng, ketupat, lemang, nasi beriani, perut. Banyak lagi la. Tak perlu list down semua.
  • Tahun ni banyak pegi beraya ke rumah-rumah yang jauh seperti Kluang and Desaru. Sempat main di gigi pantai Desaru. Desaru pantai had cleaned up. Good job Johor govt. Tak sempat nak camwhore depan sekolah 'kesayangan' dekat Desaru tu sebab time tu hujan. Malas nak turun kereta.
  • Gotten sick on the second of raya. Not completely recovered yet.
  • Duit raya tahun ni sudahh habisss aku beri pada orang. Aku pokai. Waitamins. Mak sendiri belom bagi lagi. Hehe.
  • Tahun ni tadek open house. Wanna come, gimme a call.
  • Aku busy, nak kena sambung buat keje.

Post with pics

Sebab aku malas nak pikir tajuk.

Anyway, I think most of us sudah in mood raya. Mana yang berkerja, mesti liat je nak buat keje (moi!). Mana yang dah cuti agaknye sudah excited nak balik sambil nyanyi lagu raya if not out loud, at least di dalam kepala or playing it on their car audio player. Me, personally never like lagu raya. I guess I associate it with my childhood years. Balik kampung, dozing in the car while the car stereo playing Raya songs while my Dad was driving. After my Dad died, I noticed that I never care much about lagu raya and hate it when other people speakers is blaring lagu Raya out loud. I was never sad, just I don't really like it.

So you people who like to blare out loud lagu raya at the office, don't do so. Not ALL people have the same preference okeh? (Jab lagi nak mintak maap, so aku sound-sound je dulu)

Mari cerita pasal Fasha dan Kurap sebentar. Nak gamba sebagai brief intermission.

By the way, tomorrow we will be sending off Fasha and Kurap to the pet boarding. Kesian tul. Kurap hate cage with all her little heart can muster. Once I put her in the cage, then she found herself a small opening where the cage wall had come off a bit when I was carrying it (and I didn't see it at the time) and proceed to wriggle her way out to freedom. Memula aku ingatkan Kurap tu is Houdini incarnated sudah, pelik gile tengok die kat luar cage. Lain pulak dengan Fasha. If I put Fasha in a cage, terus terbongkang membuta.

Oh, yeah. We are keeping Kurap at the moment sebab kesian meh nak buang die. Not sure yet if we will keep her for sure. At least Kurap is better behave than Fasha. Because Fasha semalam telah kencing di atas my mom's new bag, so sume orang sangat la bengang dengan Fasha. I whacked her a bit and sent her to the cage for timeout. Tho I doubt she realized the magnitude of her crime.

Fasha and Kurap can get along now, tho adalah masa mereka berbunuh-bunuhan jua. Especially time pagi-pagi, Fasha dah weng-weng nak tido and Kurap sibuk ajak main. But most of the time it is pretty good. Kurap tu got poor hygiene sikit, while Fasha is OCD about licking her fur (tengok la fur die sungguh gleaming). When we kept them apart, I do not notice any improvement on Kurap hygiene. When we decide to let them run amok together, I notice Kurap is looking a bit more wholesome and I kinda guessed that Fasha mesti is helping Kurap in looking a bit nicer.

Then I manage to snap this.

Hoi, macam obscene~!

Anyway, we all (termasuk la Fasha dan Kurap) mahu mengucapkan

dan Maaf jika ade tersilap kata, terasa hati, terkuciwa kan sesiapa.

credit: me for snapping the photos, to husband sebab die punye kamera and settings and die la rajin nak mengphotoshopkan gamba Abid main bunga api tu. Kalo aku, mspaint suda agaknyer. Haha.

Raye Bla Bla Bla

and 10 minutes later bla.

Nothing to it. Everyone is busy bercerita pasal raya. So I'll guess I take a swing on the subjects too.

Baju raya: A kebaya newly made few months back but never got a chance to wear it. Baju nikah hari tu. Hehe. And whatever nice baju kurung I can find.

Kueh Raya: Baru beli semalam sedikit untuk consumption sendiri sambil tengok series. Konfem makin gemok!

Barang-barang baru untuk raya: Well, nothing yet as we are still living at my sis's house.

Accessories: Beli tudung je la. RM5 per piece. Quite a steal.

Duit raya: Sudah ditukar belom di letak dalam sampul.

Balik kampung: Tak lama lagi. Yippee. And we are going back to JB first this year. And the bestest thing ever is that: all of my siblings would be here for raya. Yeay! Thinking to do a family photo, tho it will be very difficult. Sebab my mom mesti "Malas la nak amik gamba".

Cats: Sudah diarrange untuk dihantar petboarding. Kesian. Nak aje bawak Fasha. Tapi knowing Fasha mesti explore tah ke mana-mana and siap kena blasah dengan kucing-kucing ganas di Bandar Baru Uda. And my mom prolly would not approve of cat litter box at the back of the house.

Owh. My eldest sister and her family will be landing at Malaysia (from Qatar) around now. (If there is no delay). Yeay!

OK. TTFN.

Amaze

I am amazed at

1. People who move their mouse by picking it up and putting it down repeatedly. I tried it. It doesn't work for me?

2. People who still like the new NKOTB (new as in this year release) songs. Giler annoying and its a pile of turd masquerading as music.

3. Fasha my cat yang maseh suke tido at my feet even though there is a big space on the bed next to me if my husband outstation.

4. Women who wear tudung yang berbelit-belit without using ANY pins and tudung mereka an lawa dan kemas walaupon di tengah ribut, angin bertiup sakan-sakan bahasa. Guna inner energy ke ape? Kalo aku, by 1 jam berlalu mula la serot berot, that one end dah pegi ke mana. Hish. Berpin-pin aku guna. Nampak sangat memang selekeh by nature. Wargh!

5. Those yang tak makan banyak, but still mahu nak pergi buffet Ramadhan di sana sini.

6. myself yang setelah sekian lama, berjaya habiskan Tale of 2 Cities by Dickens. Seriously... susah to pick up. I enjoyed David Copperfield and Oliver Twist immensely, but this story is just a bit blah to me though quite heartrending.

Sekian, ini sahaja yang saya boleh pikirkan untuk hasil coretan. Tah hape-hape.

My Lunchtime Activity Lately

Reading books at Borders that I had wanted to read for quite some time but I was not too incline to buy it unless the books are really good. Cheapskate but this is one way to save money !

Finish reading Persepolis 1 on last Thursday and Friday. Now to Book 2.

So far? Quite good. Its in comic strips form ( well it is technically a graphic novel, though the art is not lavish but does the job quite well), so it does not take that long to finish it.

Image extract from Persepolis 1. Taken from site (http://www.groonk.net/)

But I do like the idea of an autobiography being told in a comic form. Much more entertaining. Most autobiographies are so dull. I like her sense of humour in this novel too. So my lunchtime for Ramadhan are being spent in an enjoyable manner. Hehe.

Ini sepatutnyer entri lama

but I gotten busy.

So ya know that I went back to JB last weekend. Best y'all. Yang tak best, have a sudden hankering for chicken chop kat Jalan Dobi tapi memang kenot pegi la bulan pose as makanan berlambak-lambak time buka.

I thought that the food for berbuka on Saturday was immense, with the kueh mueh, sup and mi , murtabak and some other things I forgot. But on Sunday it surpasses all.

You see my mom masak sup and bubur aje petang tu. And I thought it would be just that y'all. Die pesan la to us to buy us some rojak. I couldn't find the rojak and bought pasembor and tauhu bakar thinking it would suffice. Bile balik aku macam menganga la tengok meja makan tu tak cukup space dah. Sempat pulak tu die masak mee bandung skali and roti john sardin (sebab paling cepat guna sardin je la). I sometimes think that my mom still think that her children is still in their teens when we used to menghabiskan 3 pinggan of nasi each every meal.

Sebelom berbuka sempat snap kejab using cameraphone, sebelom kena duk ulang alik rumah jiran exchange makanan

So there was sup, mi bandung, bubur which was by mother's hand. Roti john by my brother'shand. I bought pasembor and tauhu bakar (which is the two styrofoam above). My other brother and my husband bought a loads of karipap and some other kuehs. And pakcik aku beli sate and tetiba jiran sebelah merangkap sdara mara bagi spaghetti and nasi goreng and kek coklat (2 whole of tupperware worth of cake). And I think my aunt ade bagi nasi lemak also. Banyak la makanan yang not pictured above itu.

Ni sume ini untuk 5 orang makan di rumah. Tapi ni makanan punyer quantity macam boleh feed satu rumah anak yatim okeh.

In the end merasa hampir semua (dengan menfreeze and tapau tauhu bakar bawak balik KL because only I love those) kecuali spaghetti itu ( and I am currently thinking of those spaghetti fondly sambil terasa rugi tak makan. Haha).

This weekend kena kerja Sabtu, Ahad. T_T (Kena konon, padahal volunteer sebab nak dapat cuti extra). Tapi sebab tak pose aku nak bawak makanan gi opis. Yeay.

Later people. Nak gi melagha di dalam Borders.

p/s: Gamba ni tidak begitu jelas sangat so aku tak rase korang trasa lapar bila tengok.

Kittehz LOL

Pic of course by: http://icanhascheezburger.com/

I am thinking to do this next time when kittehz is due for baftime. Our hands (well, especially husband hands because I will try to avoid kittehz baft duties when I can) will be scratched up real bad when it is time for their bath.

p/s: Got back yesterday around noon and the cats is alive. Maybe a more lengthy post later.

Random things before the long weekend!

Macam lama pulak tidak berupdate. Random things then!
  • Back to work already. Balik-balik je terus start new projects, so macam bercelaru sket. But ok kut
  • I can go back at 5 pm. Tapi kalau dah sampai office tuuu pukul 9.30, kasik malu sket ok nak angkat bag awal-awal. So stuck la di dalam jem and sampai rumah tepat-tepat time buka pose. Naseb baik tak kena masak.
  • I am having weird dreams of ghost lately. Disturbing.
  • Hari ini hari jumaat. Round-round Gardens semalam mengisi masa lapang, bile dah bosan usha komputer, berjaya lah aku locate Borders and GSC Signature. Tapi GSC tadek cite menarik (baru nak tengok wayang time lunch hour) and Borders pulak harga buku and graphic novels (Fables) cilaker mahal. Up sampai rm10 tu banding Kinokuniya. Ops, bulan pose tak boleh swearing.
  • Dan semalam husband telah membeli Fables untuk aku dia. Siap beli 2 Volume lagi. Volume 8 and 9. Semalam die dah habiskan pon Volume 8 at one go. Aku baru habiskan 1 part. Huhuh.
  • Malam ni balik JB. Yeay! Nak buka puasa dengan murtabak Johor! (or Singapura depending on where you are coming from. I am maitaining murtabak Johor. Hehe)
  • Kesian kucing-kucing kena tinggal di belakang, tapi takpe, makanan and air for 2 days akan disediakan.
  • Semalam True Blood is terbaek! Actually it is Monday True Blood, tapi baru habis download. Lembap gile. Jason Stackhouse is awesome. Even if he does 'do' it in doggie style among organic compost, he is still awesome.
  • Tengah pikir nak buat ke treatment rambut. Buat je la. Rambut macam hampes. Mesti kena bebel dengan orang saloon. Oh yes, Sheema. Maintaining that buat treatment rambut in JB is CHEAP, but the cheap treatment after effect itu is biasa-biasa je. Tapi the expensive one RM120 is THE BEST TREATMENT EVER, OMG! Aku terasa macam artis Bollywood y'all. Flip, flip hair sana sini sambil terasa jelita.
  • Hoi, tadek orang di luar sana ke yang kerja dekat Midvalley. Lepas Ramadhan jom lunchie!
  • Kthxbai

Panasnye Hari Ini

Topik tadek kaitan.

Few things so buat topic highlighted sket okeh supaya tak termangu-mangu tengok tadek continuation.

Puasa

Esok Puasa! Does this mean berat aku akan berturun? I hope so. MC di rumah selama 2 minggu, kerja duduk makan je. Nanti kebaya dah tak muat. I didn't make any baju raya this raya, because I thought my berat akan naik because I was pregnant so its too late to make any now. But I did manage to tempah a new kebaya before getting pregnant and I havent wear it yet.

Oh before I forgot. Selamat berpuasa untuk semua. Rajin-rajin la sahur. Mintak maaf any salah silap as I can be a bitch and really irritating at times and I will try to be a little less grudging and bitchy and annoying, k.

Argh. Tahun ni aku macam kena bangun sahur sebab sudah berlaki. Gah! I don't usually sahur. I just drink some plain water and gone back to bed.

Nerdishly Bookish

My husband bought me some books. He dragged me to Popular at Ampang Point because he was searching for some nonsensical non-books thing to buy. Wrong move on him. Because never ever brought me to a bookshop without expecting me getting out without a book in hand. Skali kali ni 3 books in hand. 1 book I bayar, 2 books die bayar. Hehehe. (Duit dalam dompet tak cukup la) Takpe. I janji I beli the next Fables ok. (He is now super hooked on Fables. Told ya it was good)

I told my husband I would be loitering around the book section and walked into the children/classic area and immediately drawn to this and was really excited. I was looking high and low for Tales of the Arabian Nights with illustration and found one, though the illustrations are black and white. Though it would not compete with a book I had seen in my childhood where the Tales of The Arabian Night books is a big glossy hard cover book with beautifully vibrant colorful illustrations depicting the stories. Tunggu la nantiiii kaloo aku jumpaaa aku beli jugaaak. This book is RM13.90. (Hehe... yang ini aku bayar).

Then I my eyes was hooked to this book.

I was attracted at the synopsis at the back. Something like

"A beautiful Lady refused to marry a Lord. So her father, angry, locked her in the Tower with her handmaid."

Basically it will the story from the handmaid POV. Seems interesting and can't seem to put it down, so I took it. I did have some doubt when I saw the top quote from Stephanie Meyer as her favorite recent read. Stephanie Meyer. Bah! Tapi maybe it will be very very good. And the author seems to have won herself a Newberry nominations (Quite distinguished Children's Books award.) tho not for this book. Can't remember the price. Dah tanggal pon price die.

And another book that I am SUPER excited about.

The Grimm's Fairy Tale! I think it is almost the complete tales with illustrations! (Black and white, but still), and I am sure there is no such thing as unabridged version of the Grimm's fairy tale. But the language ain't for kids either.

" Why weepest thou, O King's daughter? thy tears would melt even a stone to pity."

Nope. Not a book for 8 year olds. I had already 2 books in hand when I spot this, and was really hard for me to walk out of the stores without it in hands. I remembered I loved reading the Grimm's Fairy Tales book when I was small. It was torn asunder dah kut sekarang.

And its price is CHEAP. RM29.90. For hard cover. With dust jacket. Amounting of 852 pages of tebalness. CHEAP! I tell you.

The store at the time also have
- The Complete Illustrated Works of Hans Christian Andersen (which I am going to buy next)
- The Complete Illustrated Works of Lewis Carroll (ooohh.. also want after the above)
- The Complete Illustrated Short Stories of Sherlock Holmes (Bah. I never could like Sherlock Holmes)

Those who are mad about children's books, would find this a steal. I am telling you, I can never get so excited in buying clothes as I am buying books. Unless the clothes is really good like LEATHER JACKETS. Or even better A TRENCH LEATHER JACKET COAT. Dan di manakah aku nak pakai trench leather jacket panas lut lut di Malaysia ni kannn? Nak beliii tu kena sensible skettt. Tho I did have a weak moment when I bought a trench cardigan from Esprit yang mahalnye aku cuba sembunyikan dari mak aku okeh. Dah kahwin pun kena sembunyi beli barang dari mak. Cam mana tu...

"Hoi! Bulan puasa malam ni dah start. Try kawal sket nafsu shopping tu..."

Tetiba suara common sense turun bagaikan halilintar.

Gah! Ade 1 topic lagi tinggal. Panjang gile post ni. Takpe. Point form in short sentences.

UP

See it.

The short story at the start is I LIKE VERY MUCH. I always like the image of storks carrying babies to the home. And this is soo cutee.

Incredible first 20 minutes of the movie. Everyone remarked on how sad it is. What I thought? If my life is mostly like that, I would be contented in life.

Everything in the movie from the animals to kids to elderly is SUPERBLY CUTE. And wonderfully human!

The whole movie feels bittersweet. I would say this is one of my favorite PIXAR movies, surpassing Monster Inc. Just below The Incredibles.

So. Must Watch!

It's written in the stars

During my single years, I used to love poring over those horoscopes. I would look into those nonsensical things and together with my BFFs (Seri, that is especially you) we would laughed out loud and said that this is all nonsense when all the while we were wishing its were true. Despite of me thinking that this is all very superstitious stuffs, when the newspaper comes in the first thing we would looked at was the horoscope. Then we would move in to the comic strips.

We were wishing for a soulmate then (and you know... just typing soulmate make 0.1% of my brain rots from stupidity). For that other person who will make us complete and set our insides in fire. If you know what I mean. So when we were dumped by our boyfriends then or get rejected we would turned into these horoscopes, looked it over meticulously over various horrible created sites (complete with blinking stars as the background) and we declared to ourselves "Oh, see... the sign say we are not compatible." Not because we are morons and the guys are a jackass.

But as I gotten engaged and then married, I never really care to look into the horoscopes again. Not even to know if I would amass a million dollars if I were to step in somewhere. (Well, if that were to be true, I would like to know it can happened without me even caring about horoscopes). I do not care what the stars predict my love life would be like and hardly glance at it nowadays. I know what it would be like. Be it hard or easy, we still have to get through it. Reading a paragraph of 'signs' that apply to 1/12 of the world would not help it if you yourselves are not ready to take care of the problem.

Like I said all of these star signs are nonsense and nothing more than a diversion right? The idea that these person born under these specific dates is wrong for you or your soulmate is just rubbish aight? But the weird thing is, all my past boyfriends seems to fall under the same signs. Only these 2 signs. Capricorn and Virgo. And my ex boyfriends, is more than just 2 y'all. Weirdly my husband is a Taurus.

Oh, and I'm a Scorpio. Heh.

A Kitty In Need

of a good home.

This stray little kitten had suddenly come into our home looking so forlorn and pitiful that my sister fed her some bread. So she stay for the past week and had been eating Fasha leftover foods (certain brands of cat foods that Fasha doesnt like and refused to eat. Dasar kucing memilih gitu).

Awal-awal datang mengemis makanan

Dimandikan oleh husband untuk kasik rupa respectable sket

Because I am living at a crowded home , I do not think so we can keep her, tho I do like to.
Fasha had been chasing the little kitten around, (we had now separated the kitten to only live at the front porch). Tho the kitty had also been chasing Fasha around. Macam frenemies gitu main Tag.

She is a lovable little kitten but looking a little worse to wear tho really quite cute. Basically there's a sorta eczema ( kurap) on both her ears and head. We had been feeding her some milk (for added nutrients) and applied ointments on her skin. Seems to be getting better from the first time we ever saw her.

F.rom a sad, listless little kitten sekarang ni very active one and kept on running here and there playing with everything. I do believe with proper care (vet, ointments, some medicines) she would be a very handsome cat indeed as her fur is really quite pretty.

What she looked a week later after some kurap cream and a good feed. With Fasha the frenemy at the background.

Fasha memberi laser eyes to the new kitty. (Gamba hiasan)

So this post intention is really in asking any of you readers out there who would like to take extra care of a kitten? It is tedious, I know and she does not look 'kawaii' compare to the other lovable kittens you might normally see in the pet shops. But I do believe she needs a loving home and I couldn't bring myself to 'buang' her anywhere.

One of my options is SPCA. But before going to SPCA, and as some of you might know, it is also better to ask if any of you people who would like or know anyone that want to adopt a kitten and if they do would you want her? And the kitty is a she if you are wondering.

And please if you do, provide a good home and neuter your pets if you do not wish your pet untuk beranak pinak.

Been Reading

Matthew Reilly.

I had been reading the 7 Ancient Wonders and 6 Sacred Stones by Matthew Reilly lately. 7 Ancient Wonders I read about a couple of weeks back and 6 Sacred Stones while recovering at the hospital.

So I am combining both reviews into one post, still separate but no need to repeat points already highlighted. Also both books have the same set of characters. Not gonna take long in reviewing these 2 books as I have some daun-daunan I needed to 'jerang'. Huhu.

Anyway

7 Ancient Wonders. Excerpt from Amazon.com Review

The breakneck action stems from an Egyptian sun cult which has hidden pieces of the capstone to the great pyramid in the husks of the seven wonders of ancient world, leaving clues that would flummox Indiana Jones. Here's the deal: whichever nation can locate and assemble the capstone in time for a cosmic event designed to end life on Earth will rule the world. Enter a ragtag team of commandos representing non-superpowers (read, in a Da Vinci Code context, not the European Union, the United States or the Vatican) who stand to lose in this eventuality. The team pits itself in a race against the formidable forces of the western world, cosmic calendar, and traps set by ancient-wonder-hider, Imhotep V.

Hmmm. In the site the excerpt looked kinda less long.
  • Introduce us to the team of Captain Jack West Jr.
  • Fast paced. Like really. If Indy Jones was a novel (well maybe it was I never check), it is kinda like this.
  • Lovely complete imaginings of 7 Ancient Wonders tho some are reallly far fetched.
  • Treat it as truly fiction rather than historical fiction.
  • The writing is direct and no nonsense. Short concise words, more actions than thoughts most of the time. Can get mind boggling if you are used to slower books (moi! moi!)
  • Comes with drawings, which is a plus. Because describing complex buildings may be hard, but readers reading it considered it just as boring.
  • Effi, pick this up and read it. Should be right up in your alley. Though you may scoffs on the some of the very wildly inaccurate facts or legends.

6 Sacred Stones. The review excerpt I took from Amazon.com as below.

After completing a 10-year mission to acquire the Golden Capstone of the Great Pyramid from what's left of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, Jack West Jr. has retired to the Australian outback to raise his adopted daughter, Lily. Jack's pal, Professor Max T. Epper, known as Wizard, has discovered that the Dark Sun, a mysterious heavenly body, is due to emerge in nine days, triggering the Apocalypse. Ultimate disaster can only be averted if someone can locate the six legendary Pillars, cleanse them with the Philosopher's Stone and insert them in the 6 Vertices, thereby causing the Great Machine to power on and negate the fatal blast from the Dark Sun. If anyone can perform these Herculean labors, it's Reilly's resourceful hero.

  • The story picked up about a year after the 7 Ancient Wonders end.
  • More actions but, slower pace than the previous. But it gave the readers more breathing time to get familiar with the story and place.
  • Captain Jack West Jr is getting a bit predictable.
  • The legends are a bit complicated this time and I lose track on which is which, and that is annoying.
  • Cliffhanger ending for a book. WTF!

So I can't wait for book 3 which are the 5 Greatest Warriors coming in October!

Summary: Great reading. Hard to put down. Get some getting used to.

It was and was not to be

So to some of you who might have known or suspected.

Yes, I was about 2 months pregnant.

And for the observant of the grammar. The word is was.

And to many of you who didn't know. I had a miscarriage around 2 days ago and lost the baby or pregnancy. Not really sure on the correct term for that.

As many says, God knows best. And I am sure He does.

There's not much to say and I am not incline to say much here too on the matter. I am still at the hospital now(thanks to Maxis broadband where I am typing this from my husband laptop), but will be discharged soon. Thanks Sheema for visiting. Will be on 2 weeks of medical leave, I think. That's what the doctor said.

My mom will also datang to KL after the weekend.

Well. That's that.

Cats and Mess

At first this photo was meant for my IG story, but the mess is too much. So I opted not to, and in a whim decided to just post it here. Beca...
