Lets just put July here and I rambled about Kdrama I love

Its July. Bulan puasa come and gone. Raya come and gone. And still I haven't blogged. I am a little ashamed if I must say. I used to say that I can't imagine not writing.

And here I am not writing. I have no idea what I do with my time. I also found that I have no time. My obsession with Kdrama nowadays certainly does not help. Tho if the kdrama I watched is a bit of a drag, or the heroine keeps on crying, that puts me off. I hate heroines who cry.

So because I have time, ( even though the house is a disaster), the absolute top list of Kdrama I love and love and love.

Top 10

  1.  Reply 1988 ( Solely for the reason of Park Bo Gum) ... and this is at the top even though every eps is so goddamn long, because this drama is why I have now started to watch Kdrama. It spurs the love.
  2. Queen In Hyun Man ( Most kdrama flounders midway, this one have the story well thought out of and the chemistry is amazing).
  3.  Black ( this would be the top if not for the god awful ending. wtf kinda ending is that)
  4.  My Love from The Star. ( Helloo Kim Soo Hyun )
  5.  Dream High ( It is soooo addictive. And the story does not disappoint even if its cliche)
  6.  Reply 1997 ( It have a laidback sorta feel to it and the zaman is closer to what we were experiencing ).
  7.  Oh My Ghost ( My favorite actress . She reminded me a lot of Inoue Mao). I was torn between Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, but Oh My Ghost have a better mystery and tied it up quite nicely even though I don't really like Park Bo Young timid character in there.
  8.  Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo, I think that what it called sebab aku malas tengok balik. I love IU. She is so sweet. She did pretty well, holding her own alongside the many cast of hotties. It was pretty good and people hated the ending, but I am ok with it.
  9.  Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joon. This drama is so sweet and cute.
  10.  Let's Eat series. Season 3 is coming soon. And I can't wait to watch Yoon Doo Joon stuff his face and I wishing that I can also eat Korean barbecue without the fear my kids are gonna scald their hand.

Netflix and Chill

More like binge watching to the point of you feel like you have no identity of your own?

Don't you ever feels like it? Say if I had binge watched Buffy for instance, I always feel like carving up a stake and go out to the night to patrol and make ready some sassy line for comebacks.

So when Netflix came to Malaysia everyone is so excited. Well, everyone who loves TVs as much as I do. We subscribed and I kinda love it.

I started with Master of None . It was ok. Funny. Not a really binge kind of series. More like, if you are feeling a little down then Master of None is a good pick me up without feeling like you had been dumbed down. Aziz Ansari brings a good point across into a package of watchable comedy. Not a bad hour spent.

Then because I like Krysten Ritter and heard only good stuffs on Jessica Jones, so I started to watch Jessica Jones.

Again, so so good. The thing with Netflix shows are, they are good for binge watching. And Jessica Jones is so addictive. I like the angle of a dark twisty antihero superhero woman. Someone who is damaged and conflicted. I only ever seen Ritter in a comedy, so here where she balance drama, action and comedy ( Jessica Jones is sassy) she is wonderful.

What is it about? Jessica Jones is a detective with superpowers trying to help a girl from the clutch of an evil man.  A man from Jessica past. That is the short version of the series lah. It does feel a bit graphic novel-ish, as the series is from a Marvel comic, but that is good. The world Jessica lives on is the same world that Iron Man, Captain America, Thor lives on. Post NY alien invasion attack .

The high point of the series is the villain. Not gonna post the spoilers, but the way the mind games played out is spectacularly addictive to watch ( not as spectacular as Mr Robot, Mr Robot is a more like. WTF? spectacular). I actually went in to watch the series not knowing that Jessica Jones have superpowers. Only after it had been pointed it out then I am like.. oh ok, now I get it. Haha.

But seriously Jessica Jones is a great show. The supporting players can be improved, but when it was just the Jessica and Kilgrave ( the main villain), it is when the show is at its height.

After finishing Jessica Jones, I am like.. eh what next. Orange is the New Black then! I was never interested to watch it, but Netflix keeps on trying to recommend it to me. So easy to click than to browse I say.

AND I AM HOOKED. So helplessly hooked. Not helping that there are 3 seasons of OITNB ( panjang sangat nak type).

It is about Piper an upper class girl who got sent to prison because of her past crime, she helped her girlfriend (who is a drug smuggler) carry some drug money to another country. So basically the story deals with how she copes with prison life.

And it is seriously good. And I love the diverse cast, where it is acknowledged that the people in the system flock together according to races and from there we see the life and past life of each inmate in the show.

A show about prison can be campy or dark, but here injected with comedy, it straddled the line of drama and comedy perfectly. It feels believable and the emotions pouring out of each performance makes me feel for each and everyone of the inmate. Yes, even the one that deserved to be there.

And this show is even more addictive than Jessica Jones. It is that good. I love how the main players are women in this show, how very little romance is in the plot. Yes, there is love ( and many are the lesbian love type). But it feels real. It feels more like a telling of relationships than romance. So I love that. And the biggest baddest flirt, is a woman. Like all the man in this show, can't hold a candle when Alex Vause smiles at you.

I am hoping to finish this OITNB madness, and maybe take a step back from Netflix a bit so I can get back to my usual, average life and tv shows.

IFlix and ...

Husband tried to subscribe with iFlix. Those who are not in the knows, IFlix is kinda like Netflix, where you pay to watch streaming tv shows or movies. Right now the services is only available in Philippines and Malaysia. I tried it when I was Singapore but I can't sign in saying "out of country".

It offers some popular old series and fairly good list of current tv shows. You know I am a tv addicts. This is tailor made for people like me! I haven't looked through the movies list yet because I am too busy rewatching Friends. Yes! They have all seasons of Friends! I was just before this considering to buy the dvds which gonna cost a lot. But now it is in IFlix. I am so excited! It have other current shows. Husband is watching Suits and Arrows in IFlix.

Got some cartoons, old tv cartoons and gotten Aziz to watch Bananas in Pajamas which he kinda loves. Got animated movies too for the kids.  It is now offering a month trial (wait I read up in the site it is only for 14 days.. but we have been using it for free for a month now and still can watch all this shows)

I am going to continue with Iflix! I think even with Astro is gone, I won't notice though Aziz would surely do. His Upin and Ipin and Ultraman fix is in Astro though. Oh, we need to use a browser for it for now so definitely needed a computer or a laptop or a tab, so the options are we connect our laptop to the tv using hdmi cable. Don't ask me the steps because my husband set it up, but I think it is simple enough.  Below is how it is setup in our house.

Got mini screen(laptop) for playing and the tv screen for actual viewing. That is the very first episode of Friends btw. Rachel wedding headpiece was out of this world.

Hoped IFlix is here to stay. The only thing we wished is that it offered subtitles but maybe it depends on the show.... like I said I haven't really browsed because whenever I put it on, I quickly play Friends . So thumbs up to the founder!

Oh... continue on..

Sebab semua orang share ape die orang buka day to day.. I pon nak cakap gak. Though I don't take pictures of mine. Sebab dah kelam kabut. Mana taknye. Sampai rumah 6.45 camtu.. terus la ke dapur. Menu semalam is just daging paprik and telor dadar. Sebab daging paprik tu dah ade sayur semua kan ( walaupon I only consider leafy green veges as true sayur) , I just put kobis and carrot in my paprik. And buat telo dadar. Masak nasi . Habes semua siap dalam 7.15. Can't believe I manage to masak in that short time because orang tak terer masak macam I ni memang lembap dalam dapur. Tu pon sambil jenguk resepi gak. Haha. Masa paprik pon kena tengok resepi . Most of my recipe I used to cook for day to day ni.. I usually take it from Mat Gebu. Maybe because we are both Johorean so taste for food macam asam pedas, kari, tu macam sama and I usually like the food I cooked when I used his recipe.

Also... to me the ultimate brush bottle! It is the middle one. I like it sebab the sponge does not easily come off after vigorous brushing. Ini pon aku berharap semoga sentiasa ade di Giant :D

Reels and Small Screens - A seriously lenghty post with no real substance.

Updating because aku tadek keje wehhh.. boring.

As for the cinema ( the reels in topic....), my husband and I we took turns watching movie at the cinema. Sebab susah la nak bawak tots and a babe. Husband usually go to watch his movie at night or me during the day on a weekend afternoon. I remember my colleague asked me who I go out with to watch movies if husband is watching the kids, and I said alone. Terus die buat muka pelik. Haha. I mean biasa la tu. To get my girlfriends with me bole kut, but then it would take longer, sebab of course la nak kena lunch la ape la or minum2 ke. If I go alone, I buy popcorns and soda and that is my meal. Though I think I will no longer buy it.

Sebab sometimes I can't really have soda if sakit perut ke, sakit kepala ke or time pregnant ( sebab the pening afterwards is just not worth it) and then they charged the ice lemon tea yang cikai tu rm5 and the popcorn cost like rm12 tambah gst dah nak close to rm20. Yeeesshhhh! That is not worh it. Next time I am stashing a bottled ice lemon tea or mineral water in my bag. And a sandwich or snickers. Bloody hell that is daylight robbery RM20 for an ice lemon tea with artificial lemon and a small tub of popcorn.. Not to mention cinema dulu kan kalau beli tiket online ikut suke la nak pilih seat mana. Tapi now if seat yang atas sikit rm20 bawah sikit yang buat sakit tengkuk rm18. Gile I tell you. I don't know if buy directly same price like that or only online je kena. I havent bought tickets direct at the ticket counter since forever.

Anyway.. I decided to watch San Andreas. My husband is like pelik because he knows I would like Jurassic World better being Chris Pratt is in there ( his IG is cute. His love for Anna Faris is swoony) ,, tapi I had always liked big disaster movies and big disaster movies are best seen in a cinema. So it was ok, nothing spectacular and everything is predictable but I had a good time.

Nak review ke? Tak perlu kut. It is a dumb disaster movie that are done well entirely by the earnest casts. The Rock never disappoint y'all.

I wish I have the time to watch Jurassic World in the cinema, but I am not sure how I am gonna wrangle that out during bulan puasa. Tengok wayang time puasa is not that satisfying if we can't have something to munch on. I'll think about it.

Now for the small screens. I am still the same. Obsessed with TVs. And this post seems apt with the season finale of Game of Thrones yesterday. I will give a list from the top of my head on the tv series I am currently still watching or following , and some opinions on it. ( May include spoilers like those who are not updated in the latest Greys Anatomy or Vampire Diaries. )

Game of Thrones - Incredible for the last couple of episodes. It improved tremendously by getting Tyrion to Daenarys. And that white walkers slaughter of the wildlings and the watch was seriously great TV since forever. Last night episodes was full of death and uncertainty and I don't know if I just can't wait for the book or for the series. And which will come out first?!!?

Outlander - I love this series. People had been lamenting about the amount of rape or threat of rapes in this series, but it is not that outrageous to me. The series made me wants to go to Scotland more! Ohh.. those who want to watch this series, don't watch it with kids or parents. Nudity and sex abound. I was surprised at first but then learned that series from the Starz network usually have this.

Greys Anatomy - Derek died. I honestly dont care. I never like them together anyway. Yes. I am still watching this . Will tune in till the end I guess. It is a fun relaxing watch. Macam the thing I usually look forward to watch on a Saturday morning with my tea and toast.

Vampire Diaries -  Nina Dobrev had exited the show! And that means no more Elena. I actually am looking forward to see how they gonna do the next season because Elena was such a central figure in the whole story.

The Originals - I kept on hoping Klaus to die. Or Caroline to go there. I have no idea why I watched, but i guess if nothing else ade, just watched it la.

The Good Wife - Had deteriorated a lot this season. Maybe just by focusing on Alicia , it just feels really heavy and boring. Julianna Margulies have the screen presence but what made it fun to watch before is how all the cast interacted with each other. Christine Baranski for instance, is awesome in whatever scene you put her in. And that whole 'splicegate'. Don't know who is in the wrong, but it just made Margulies looks worse and frankly I kinda leaning in the belief that Julianna Margulies is kind of an asshole.  ( so more many thoughts tapi lagi panjang )

The Flash - The best new series of 2014/2015. Seriously, Watch it.

Gotham - Meh. Only ok when Morena Baccarin came in. Before this it was too dark and depressing.

iZombie - Created by the same people who did Veronica Mars. Expect loads of snappy , quick, witty dialogue. Which I like tremendously. ( This is the same reason why I love Buffy and Gilmore Girls).

Scorpions - Good procedural show. Nothing to shout about. Laughable in the this is kind of ridiculous .. but boleh la for an hour tv.

Reign - Incredibly ridiculously historically inaccurate. Francis is taking a long time to die y'all... But.. seriously pretty actors and actresses.

MARVEL Agents of Shield - Ok lah. This season is a bit smoother compare to last season. But not really something I look forward to but bile start to watch it is quite enjoyable.

MARVEL Agent Carter - Better than Agents of Shield, which is solely because the chemistry between Hayley Atwell and James D'Arcy is just too good. I love James D'Arcy.

Big Bang Theory - Hey! It is still on! Ok for a quick laugh.

Parenthood - The series finale was ages ago. I love Parenthood. Good family drama that always manage to make you choke out a tear or two especially when Monica Potter is sobbing. Will definitely miss Lauren Graham and Mae Whitman. Hope to see them more.

Nashville - Gotten really soapy which do not deter the awesomeness of Connie Britton hair. Love the songs sometimes, mostly watch this when all the series I had watched finished or when I am doing chores.

Scandal - Olivia Pope is no longer awesomesauce. And Fitz is the worst!

How to Get Away With Murder - Pretty training wheel lawyers trying to lawyering and murdering. Oklah. It is good that it is just 13 eps. Don't think I can stand it if it is 22 eps.

Hart of Dixie - Rachel Bilson as a small town doctor is cute and totally not belieavable. It was a fun show lah, have its up and down. Usually am bored by it, sometimes charmed. But it finished at Season 4 all neatly tied up with a bow.

Downton Abbey - Wait.. is it starting yet? Watch it for Lady Mary but am thoroughly charmed with the cute quiet romance of Carson and Mrs Hughes. So hell yes I am still watching because it seems like Matthew Goode will be there for next season?

Elementary - My husband still watching it, and it is still there in the computer. I love Lucy Liu so I watched it. A good procedural show. Have its hits and misses but the case of the week are charming and usually not predictable which I enjoy.

State of Affairs - A Homeland wannabe ( I dont watch Homeland but that is the feels I get). They didn't manage to portray the main characters well, which is why I guess it got axed midway.

Constantine - I love this! But it got axed. That actor here is more Constantine than Keanu Reeves could hope to be. I wish there is more.

The Mindy Project - Another axed show but got move to Hulu. Hehe. So it lives on. Love and am exasperated at Mindy Lahiri and Danny and love Mindy Kaling.

Jane the Virgin - A charming show in a telenovela sorta way. But I seriously dont care. I dont think so I will watch the next season kut because I keep on forgetting that I havent watched the finale yet.

Once Upon A Time - Why.. why am I still watching this after the whole Elsa debacle. That was bad. But Lana Parilla is just too good to let go hence I stay. And Hook is pretty and got distractingly long eyelashes for a pirate.

So roughly I watched about 20 tv shows. Wow. Well there are some that are axed or I decided to quit. Tapi mesti aku nak tambah tengok lagi. And I am also still watching Orphan Black, and Hannibal and Inside Amy Schumer ( another must watch, she is a great comedian ) , Didn't comment about these 3 because only watch like one eps each and havent started on Hannibal yet. Always like to marathon Hannibal, then I will get like really sick by the beauty and gore of the show.

I should have aspired to be a tv writer.

Back to old passions

I used to love JDo. I will usually scour through D-Addicts or asian drama wikis for new japanese drama. So masa pantang hari tu, rase macam free and also all my US series is in their usual hiatus, so berjinak la kembali ke alam JDO.

I was never a fan of K-drama. I found it is too cheesy and too lacking in humour. So yeah.. don't give me Kdrama recommendations. I will never try to see it. :D

So being a fan of the then Hana Yori Dango .. I usually follow the drama the cast acted in. And recently watched these 2.

One is Shitsuren Chocolatier. Translated in English as Heartbroken Chocolatier.

It have Matsumoto Jun. I always like him though I never think of him as cute. But he is so adorable when in his roles.

This drama is about Sota (Matsumoto Jun) who had always been in love with Saeko (Ishihara Satomi). He became a chocolatier because Saeko loves chocolate and leave to Paris to learn how to be a chocolatier after Saeko rejected him. After becoming an established chocolatier, he came back with a plan to win Saeko heart through chocolates.

At first I felt the drama was cutesy a bit ecchi, but by episode 5 and 6 I am frusrated with the whole lot of em. It is a comedy which something Matsumoto Jun really excelled at. Though I had to push myself a bit to finish it and I do like the ending. Not the usual shoujo ending.

The most enjoyable part of the drama is all the chocolates they shown. Damn it I really craved chocolates then and I almost forgive the detestable characters just at the view of Matsumoto Jun serenely tempering the chocolate. Yums.

It also introduced me to Ishihara Satomi.

I only have lukewarm feelings about her character and thought she is very pretty but mostly I was distracted by her makeup especially her lipstick. I kept on trying to find her lip lines. I always wonder why some women wants to put lipstick outside of their lip lines. It is so distracting.

The second JDo I had recently watched was the 2012, Poor Man Rich Woman.

Oguri Shun is like my dream man, man. He is tall and handsome and so blur looking. I had a major crush on him during HYD days. I still do I guess. Haha.

And he played the role Hyuga as the billionaire genius brilliantly. He was cocky but unsure. brilliant but hopeless. Love it. I like how Japanese drama have a drama about game programmers though their aim to make a nationwide govt system for citizens is laughable and insane. But it feels like we IT people do have a world in entertainment. The world does not just revolved around spies, police, lawyers and doctors. ( And in Malaysia , vague businessmen)

Ishihara Satomi also starred here which makes me jealous because she is so cute here beside Oguri Shun. She played Sawaki Chihiro as soon to be graduate desperately looking for a job and despite her prettiness I can't help but felt like I identified with this character. She is just a hardworking, ordinary woman trying to get her place in the industry but can't seems to get in because she is just ordinary. (though in real life her prettiness would surely factored in. )

Gah. So sweet. And I also thought in this jdo in account of her being a simple girl and tone down her makeup I can make out her lip lines, but I can't! I am forever distracted by Ishihara Satomi lip lines!

Random

I always looked at some lifehack. If there is something I can use there to speedy up everyday things. One of those is that they used some sorts of stand to put your ipad on while you cook. While I don't think I can bear to put my tab directly atas when I am cooking sambal belacan.... I think for me lagi appropriate I put it somewhere near the sink whenever I have to wash a boatload worth of dishes. At the top I got one of those hanging thing and those are good enough for my tab to go into. I can watch my series while doing dishes!

Semalam our team at work have a team dinner at Majestic Hotel. Free buffet.. well.. I meant sponsored by company buffet! I really like it. The yakitori is really delicious. Some of the dishes as with many have their hits and misses.. but the Japanese selection is quite ok and really awesome. There are the usual sashimis and sushis and yakitoris and tempura, (only manage to get terung tempura je. people are really piranhas) but also ade udon and miso soup which I don't see lot in other buffets.

The pizza and pasta we can order so it will be served fresh and hot, which everyone love. The Malay food is quite nice, for some.. udang die they said sedap.. I love the kerabu sebab they are not afraid to put cili padi in it. Too many time hotel food is kinda bland to cater to the mat salleh taste, but the Asian dishes are as spicy as what it should be. Not too spicy but it have enough kick la. It got a cheese platter to my delight, but not a lot of cheese. However I had now found a new way for me to enjoy cheese. Not sure if it is cheese snob approved. Cracker, cheese and dried fruit on top. Stupendously good when you chew on them!

The service I like! Heard that in Saturday it won't be as good due to crowd tapi they are very fast as soon as we finished our food, they will whisk them away. The best is when I asked them to grill the yakitori and they informed me it will be ready in 10 mins. Before I manage to get the yakitori, they delivered it to my table. And I was sitting really far away from the station to. Excellent service taw. Harga pon is quite ok, compare to some. Tak sampai RM100 per person I think.

Those are the desserts. Some are ok, some are I guess not so ok. The eclairs kinda cold. I hate cold eclairs. The chocolate in the mug thing is delish though.

Won the BBW preview pass. Will be going on the 5th. I still got loads of books unread so I will just mainly go to the children section and travel section then tengok2 if this time they got more for young adults... Children books in BBW sales goes fast I tell you. All good books will be snapped up quickly.

Last week we went to Bentong for the cendol and ABC and the homemade local ice cream. Over jauh sangat. I did not enjoy the food so much because I forgot I get carsick. LOL. I rarely get carsick sejak dah jadi adult ni tapi it can happen if the roads are winding enough and if I am not sitting quietly. Sitting quietly with Little Ajis memang no longer an option sebab kena entertain budak kecik yang kena strap kat carseat. So I got to Bentong looking a little green in the face. Pbthh sangat.  So we had our ABC and cendol and the nasi lemak there, and an extra ice cream afterwards which Aziz walloped down.So I recovered enough untuk ajak husband to go to Chamang. Untuk ngusha je. We didn't bring extra baju and husband do not want him to play in the river just yet.

Tak mahu share ice cream dengan mommy.

Asked him to pose dekat jambatan gantung there. I was petrified. He was ecstatic. Posing cool tak boleh kalah.

Great TV

Warning: US TV shows talk

The latest Good Wife eps was excellent. Josh Charles just hit all the right note. Menacing, disappointed, heartbroken, rage, confused. I love it. I think The Good Wife is one of the good show and if the story arc is sometimes disappointing, the acting never is.

Sejak ade anak ni memang tadek masa untuk tengok TV. Tapi naseb baik ade pumping time, which usually I pump around 30 mins time lunch hour. Time tu la nak tengok series yang 40 mins ++, selalunye pakai straps, kemas beg and all that took me around 10 mins total, so it is just nice la kan. This year, the only new show I watched is Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Reign. Oh and Shields.

I like OUATiW ( bapak malas type) because it is ever so whimsy. I like whimsy. I used to think I was whimsy before I know that people mostly regarded it as highly delusional. Still... I am a bit whimsy, only now I know better than to show it. Haha. It is even more whimsical than Once Upon a Time. I don't really like Jennifer Morrison character. Alice in OUATiW is kickass, a bit annoying, but overall likeable.

On a sidenote I wonder why female tv writers tends to write female heroines as moony and have preposterous idea on love. I love Scandal and Olivia Pope is the MAN. She is an ultimate badass, but lame when it comes to love. I always struggle with her feeling with Fitz. So annoying that she is depicted that way. If a relationship is destructive to you, your being, moral compass, marriage etc. Leave it or stay and bear the consequences. But don't go all indecisive. Kejab ni kejab tu.

Anywayy.. balik kepada topic asal. Reign is also kinda wonderful in a sorta fantasized historical drama directed at teens. It tells the story of Mary Queen of Scots. This is set in the Tudors era, but after Henry the 8th la. I love me some Tudors. So of course la I am watching even though the costumes are preposterous but very beautiful. It plays hard and loose with historical facts but apart from that it is fun, the location are beautiful, the cast a bit kayu especially the male actors tapi I forgive em sebab they are nice to look at. I wish they include other older hot looking dude. Ohh.. and Megan Follows of Anne of Green Gables fame is playing the Evil Queen. So of course I am watching.

The last one is Marvel Agent of Shields. It is kinda boring. But that is the usual with Joss Whedon shows. Like Dollhouse around eps 7 or 8 it started to get interesting. Buffy got kickass in Season 2 ( but that maybe just Spike). But the thing is, Joss Whedon' shows are known as having a slow build up. However I just can't seem to like Skye who is the lead female character. She got the Jennifer Morrison qualitylike where try as she might, I just don't like her. And also she is kinda bland, vanilla, no bite to her even when she is snarky. Eliza Dushku one note she is, is very talented in delivering snarky comments. There should be convinction in there!  I like everybody else .. hope it will rubbed off on her.

The show is still trying to set up the Big Bad, so we are heading to the interesting bits. The one where the looked for people with extraordinary ability/things with extraordinary abilities are still kinda yawny.. so like I said working progress I guess. The thing is... I don't see Joss Whedon feels in this show. They are some tv creators that you just know their signature, Bryan Fuller, David E Kelley, Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes, Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson.. they all have their own 'feels'.. what is the word.. I am missing the word. I am sure I will get it like tomorrow, but right now,.. I can't find the word. Anway.. all these creators above and Joss Whedon included, when they created a show, you just know their trademark.. the dialogue, the scene, the cinematography, camerawork. But I don't feel Joss in this one. I guess he must be very busy with the next avenger and maybe just a big name stamped on a show run by his son or maybe it is just not very apparent. Oh well.

I hope Shields get better because with a big name like Joss... it should.

Oh talking about Julie Plec and Kevin Willamson, I am liking The Originals which I also watch. I think it is now finding its own feet in a short amount of time. Compared to The Secret Circle which takes 21 episode to really find its groove and Vampire Diaries for me, took 10 eps for me to go like... "I can't wait to watch the next episode". The Originals, now took 5 episode.

I also like Klaus apart from Mystic Falls, though I wish Caroline can be in here too. As the supposed love interest Cami, is ok laa... but not enough chemistry kut. I am thinking this show will stick around compare to Reign and OUATiW ( not many watch those it seems... sigh..)

Random Stuffs

- I am drinking this nursing tea ni. Ala tea yang penuh dengan fenugreek dan tah hape rempah ratus to increase milk production. I rase la macam berkurangan, so before this I bought the Milkmaid Tea yang highly recommended, tapi tu kat rumah je. So at the office ni I bought Joy tea. Now I know why Milkmaid Tea is highly recommended walaupon expensive (RM40++ for I think 10 satchets. Ke 8 Aku reuse and reuse sampai dah tadek rase dah satchet tu baru buang. Haiii... saya kedekut ). I love Milkmaid Tea punye taste and smell. Very soothing. Not unlike usual herbal tea. This Joy one is HORRIBLE. It felt like I bancuh rempah kari instead. I put loads of honey in it, which only made it worse. Bahh. I think I will be sticking with the Milkmaid Tea. However I still got 4 more bag of the vile tea left. It is not in my kedekut nature to waste it, thus I must drink it.

- This Saturday husband is home. This meannn, I can go out shopping with Ajis during the weekend! Without much hassle! We'll be going to Bintulu for Ajis to see his grandfather and grandma soon. Rase gundah gulana pikirkan how to survive with a 4 mth old baby on a 2 ++ hrs flight.

- I had been trimming my series watch. Need to be picky. I no longer care to watch Nikita ( is it still on?), and 90210. Also I left out Parenthood, but I like to marathon Parenthood, so maybe I left it sampai end of the season then watch at one go. Senang. Walking Dead pon dah malas after the sucky FARM stories in season 2. I much rather just stick reading the graphic novel. Much more satisfying and less angsty. Andrea is so much more cooler in written/drawing form than in the series. So does Michonne. I am very very glad that Gossip Girl and Fringe is ending this season too. I dont like the Observer story. And Gossip Girl, you just wanna finish it. It is getting ridiculous by the day, but hey, it had always been ridiculous.

My favorite new show now is Emily Owens M.D. Love Mamie Gummer. The Mindy Project is ok too, but ..hmm what can I say, I felt like it is a poorer version of New Girl. Also added 666 Park Avenue to my series list. It is ok enough. Not too fucked up like American Horror Story so I can watch it and just be mildly scared and not at all turn off. And of course my favorite show will always be The Good Wife. I love it. Husband mention I should watch Suit, I tried to, but I feel like I much prefer The Good Wife court room and political drama.

- Hari isnin adalah hari yang sangat mengantuk. Sekian.

Gushing

This is one of my most favorite TV first kiss ever. Felicity and Ben both looks dazed. It was awesome. I remembered squealing. Heck, years later watching this, I still feel a bit dizzy watching it. So. Much. Chemistry. (btw, both of them dated for a while during the series run)

Currently am watching Felicity which sent me into vapours at time due to the hotness that was Scott Speedman. I mean he is hot, cute and endearing.

I remembered loving the series way back when I was in school. The first pic above is their first kiss. And the last one is where Ben is waiting for Felicity to make a decision on who she would choose. I remembered groaning when the episode end then and going wild trying to think out who she chose. I remembered rooting for Noel then, because I always have a soft spot for dorks, but was also slightly conflicted because I always think Noel have kinda greasy hair. While Ben, is perfection. I mean really. Look at him. Ugh.

I think this is the only series that really deals with college ( I didn't watch Hellcats) . Again, I kept on asking, why not more series deal with college? It is an interesting time, all those freedom going through a young person head, the expectations being put upon, friends set for life. So much drama to be tapped into.

Zombies Apocalypse : White Meat or Dark Meat?

Did not mean that in racial term or disgusting term ( suddenly am reminded of a certain hilarious smut manga).  Had just been watching The Walking Dead and the character said something along the line of "There is no longer, white, nigger or white trash. There is only white meat or dark meat. White meat is the alive and dark is the dead." Excellent series. I implore you to join me in my zombies frenzy and be disgusted together watching the series.

So the question is will you be a zombie or a survivor? So in line with AMC awesome new show. It got me thinking, if say we are in the midst of a zombies apocalypse, how sure are we that we can survive? I mean sure, we saw all these movies that the people somehow manage to dodge all these zombies lunging at them. While random strangers suddenly shrieking, gone down, is now dinner. So why the other people who got eaten, got eaten? Are you following my logic here?

So in various zombies movies rules, here's MY probability predictions if you are more likely to survive or chomp on some poor soul brains.

  • If you are a woman: are you a hooker ?
  • If not, do you sleep around and are proud of it?
  • Are you racist and not afraid to make your view known?
  • Are you incline to be violent or had records/moments of violence?
  • Are you obese/fat?
  • Were you involved in any way beforehand in the creation of said zombie apocalypse?

If you say yes to any of the above, I'll say about 90% chance you're most probably gonna be lunging around groaning for some fresh meat or fresh meat strewn across the street.

  • Are you above 19 yrs old?
  • Are you consider as a minority group/race?
  • Were/was you a hooker/stripper ? Were is the definitive word here. Basically had you resigned from such profession in search for greener pasture before the T-Virus Rage Virus zombie apocalypse came upon us?
  • Do you work in a secret underground office dealing with biological/pharmaceuticals stuffs?
  • Are you a single father with child in tow?
  • Do you have a hero complex?

Do you say yes to any? I say you stand 50-50 chance of surviving.

What about those who stand a very good chance of surviving eh. If you are any of the below, most probably you'll be riding to some forsaken land somewhere while the sun set.

  • In a group of survivor, you are the only teen/child.
  • You are a single mother with child in tow.
  • Female with a knack in weaponry. (and moral tendencies)
  • You have mutant abilities.
  • You are a retired stripper with machine gun as leg. I mean really. If you're dead when you've machine gun as leg, you just got what's coming.

Yeah, I ran out of scenarios after I put mutant abilities there. Feel free to add em!

Good things must come to an end

Re: Manga
Onemanga is shutting down or at the very least deleting most of its content. It distressed me HUGELY. I had just started reading again manga. Before this I am just confining myself to a couple of mangas and recently I am curiously trying to read as many as I can find and this have to happen. Gah! Am currently reading Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai. Ok enough lar. To be honest it is boring. I have no idea why I am still reading it though. Must be a habit where if I started reading something, I MUST FINISH IT!

Re: Book
I have not been posting book reviews because I am still trying to finish the Inkheart trilogy. Though I did manage to sneak in and finished few other books in between reading Inkheart. I think the next time, I will not be buying a 3 in 1 kinda books again. It is a pain to bring the book even downstairs to read. Hence the 'lembapness' in reading time. While Inkheart is kinda like a bore, Inkspell is getting to be interesting. Probably since I had seen the movie before? The movie does follow the book quite closely so I got a little bored reading the book.

Re: Series
I had finished watching Medium. And my night time allocation for series watching had suddenly become so free. Now I am rewatching SATC. My husband had been sucked into it too. Though he actually just sit next to me while playing computer games. Once in a while when there's a scene that is really KILLING me, I would interrupt him because he just NEED to watch this. But I know he sucked into the series already. Hah!

Emmy noms are in

And most people don't care a hoot. I generally do not care. But I get pretty excited when I heard the leads in Friday Night Lights finally getting some recognition and Archie Panjabi is nominated. She is the best thing that happened in The Good Wife.

What I most excited about is that Dylan Baker is nominated in the guest star. I loved his story in The Good Wife. That story is gripping, incredibly acted upon and just make me sway wildly throughout the whole hour. Guilty, no, yes, definitely guilty, but he can't possibly be too cliche and guilty, but he can be guilty just look at his eyessss!!!! Awesome episodes.

That's all I wanna say. It is Friday and I am contemplating either to buy a hat or a jigsaw puzzle. It's really a very hard decision to make upon.

p/s: Herm.. I am loving my new Sony Walkman. TQVM.

Back From Holiday

Taken around 7 am at Langkawi. The sea was warm even in the early morning and cool in the hot sun.

I mean from this sight at Langkawi to getting back to work tomorrow. Bah! Ain't that depressing.

Got back on Thursday evening, then picked up the cats and got a staggeringly high bills for the pet boarding that almost keeled me over.
Then come night I am the one that is keeling over the toilet throwing up all over the place. As usual, I would get sick after a long holiday. I spend the whole night either throwing up or shitting. It is not pleasant. Yes, not pleasant to you readers too, but its need to be said.

So on Friday, the only thing I can manage is to stare at the TV to watch How I Met Your Mother Season 5. Not so awesome. Yeah, I think Season 5 is the weakest season so far. It got a few high points, but most of the time I can only muster a smile. Ah well.

Oh did we say that we went to Batu Feringghi for some dvds. My sole purpose is to buy Medium, but they had not yet have Medium. Gah! I need my serial killer fix damn it. And usually Medium served up the horror without the gore and no, thanks, I will wait before watching Dexter. I mean does Dexter have a killer who stuff a body of a toddler into a toy box that used to have a toddler toy in it?

So my husband bought The Big Bang Theory, which was ok enough because it have a lot of geeks and  nerds reference to bring out a laugh but nothing really extraordinary.

And a few movies of course 2 of which we had bought.

Date Night - Good comedy, nice down to earth feels to it. But I was either too sick/mengantuk/drugged out to concentrate much, so I feel it is just ok.

She's out of my league - A bit of There's Something About Mary. Funny, hilarious at the moment. But again. Nothing really extraordinary.

I am the type of viewer who like to feel connected to the characters, and all of the characters I watched on the movie above is either blah or I don't really care about. So yeah, those 2 movies are forgettable enough.

Movie ape lagi yek, oh ye. The Lovely Bones and Sunshine Cleaning. Maybe next week.

And I am ending this post now because I am trying to watch either the Big Bang Theory or Mercy.

Random Rabbles

I think Taye Diggs is kinda hot. Idina Menzel is a very lucky woman.

I hate breaking in a new shoe. But my new shoes look hot anyway.

I had finished watching HIMYM Season 1 - Season 4. It is indeed legend-Wait for it-ary.

Went to the Sony Expo just now. Its fun if you like hanging around playing games and stuffs, and not if you're in a hurry.

My mouse is stupid. Malas betul nak beli mouse baru ok.

Ok. I am kinda bumming out that we had ran out of HIMYM eps to watch. Decided to wait for Season 5 to finish, so can marathon it. Just because Barney Stinson is not meant to be taken in moderation.

I run out of idea, and want to go home now.

Ranting, meandering...the usual

I am drawing at a blank to blog. So random time! Just felt the need to blog because last post is too depressing to be left for long.

Gossip Girl rant

Season 3 is so lacklustre. I am not sure because Blair and Chuck is together, but maybe because they have not tap into Blair and Chuck awesomeness. I am also quite sick of Serena sleeping around. Whenever people asked her to stop having sex, she will go all doe eyed and pouty and agreed but in the next 30 secs lost her pant in the process. Why are you writing her as such a dumb slut, show? Does Serena have absolutely no control over her libido?

Kitties

Kurap sekarang sudah sangat gemok. I need to show some pics, but really she is becoming obese. I guess I didn't played with her enough which is why I let her play with Fasha, still I guess she needed more exercise. And Fasha looks so emaciated, I am planning to coop her up this weekend to fatten her up a bit. She looked like nobody is feeding her. I looked at the stray cats around the backyard, they are even fatter than Fasha. If it continues, a trip to the vet is needed.

Shopping

I am feeling like membeli some shoes, hermmmm... it had been a while since a need to shop for shoes and handbags are lit up inside me. It felt foreign, yet welcoming but frightening. Haha! I also need to stop buying books and wait until I finish reading what I bought then continue to buy them again. I used to re-read Anne series every year, without fail! Because I don't have any money to buy books then back in college days (but I can still buy clothes), I re-read many books that I had. I am feeling like I missed my Anne books. The books are a bit preachy, but it does keep me inspired.

And the thing aside from the multitudes of clothes that I have, ( my husband lament that I took 3/4 of the big closet and left him with a tiny space. Eh, you are a dude ) I realized that most clothes that I had are oldddd. Seriously they are even some shirts from when I was 14, that I am still wearing at least to the grocery stores. Hoh! And most of the clothes there, I have had them since the end of Form 5. My baju kurung, my jalan-jalan clothes, my jeans. And the thing is I noticed that I usually kept on wearing these old clothes and loathe to wear my new one. And my jeans, I seriously need to buy new jeans. The last time I bought a jeans was when I was 8 kg heavier. If I wear them now, I only needed to unbelt it and it would drop to the floor. But I still keep it because I am not delusional to think that I will be kurus (ok, moderately less tembam) forever.. Damn! That make the fried chicken I wanting to buy today for lunch as a bad idea.

Oscars thoughts churned out loud

Because the Oscars had just passed by so am feeling a bit excited. A little bit about the Oscars.

The awards ceremony

Missed the NPH opening songs, which is a shame!

It was a WTF-had-happened moment, when the Best Documentary Short speech was "Kanye West" (everyone seems to be calling it that). It was incredibly funny seeing the guy standing there with a look like " I would strangle this woman but I'm on TV" and the woman continue to yammer on.

I like that "Paranormal Activity" spoof. I think it was hilarious.

While it was certainly nice to see the horror montage, I questioned why Jaws, Silence of the Lambs and Edward Scissorhands are thrown in the mix. And Twilight is not a horror movie!!! Calling it a supernatural love story is more appropriate. I most certainly love seeing The Blob montage. That movie was awesomely B-movieish. As also The Slugs. And The Hand. Which comes to another point, that I am most certainly ANTICIPATING the new Freddy Krueger movie.

I covet that woman who won Costume Design award, look. I love, love, love her hat/headpiece. I think its a hat. But on second thought it maybe a headpiece because it seems so stuck to her hair? But I love it anyway Ok. Its a shiny beret and its awesome! .

While I do reasonably like Barbara Streisand, I hate her last night when she presents the Best Director .. "for the first time ever...it could be a woman, it could be a African-American", so the other people don't matter?

Up is deserving of its Best Original Score. Whenever I heard that song, I feel like ballroom dancing, even though I don't know how.

The fashion.

People may hate on Zoe Saldana dress. But I. LOVE. IT. I wish there were more fluffy balls of pouffi-ness around her dress! I would totally wear that going up and down the stairs 30 times just to see it bounce around me. AND THAT WOULD TOTALLY MAKE A GOOD WORKOUT REGIME!

The trends on a strapless dress is really making me weary. Especially for wedding dresses. Most wedding dresses that I seen in blogs and weddings (western style I meant) always push for strapless. And some of the women choosing to wear this strapless dress, their breasts looks sad and droopy (yes, I can call it because it does seems to look that way). An example of an Oscar strapless dress that is a a bit ugh

Not that it is terrible, it just seems unsuitable for her.

And I kinda am digging Diane Kruger ruffles and chiffon dress..

The movies itself.

I usually watch the movies after the award itself. But the only movies I really want to watch are The Hurt Locker, An Education and Up In The Air. So tengok la bile I got the chance.

In summary: Jdo

A few days back, I had finally finished watching a jdorama titled Around 40. Took me several months to finish it. I started with Around 40, but then I started watching Mei-Chan no Shitsuji and was distracted by Mizushima Hiro cuteness and abandoned Around 40 and watched Mei-Chan no Shitsuji.

So I am now itching to find a new jdo to watch. I don't have any point of reference, and I couldn't be bothered to google which is the best and so and so. My never fail method is DramaWiki the name of the actor or actress that I enjoyed watching in past jdo and downloaded it and hope it don't sucks.

Then I find myself bothered by a niggling little detail. The boys that I like to watch in jdo nowadays, mostly their birth year is after 1982. And the girls! Don't let me start on that. Some are even born on the 90s. Gah! I feel old! I am old! I am too old to be drooling over Mizushima Hiro or Yamapi.

I looked at the 'older girls' of jdo that I like to watch like Nakama Yukie and Esumi Makiko, and some of their jdo are about relationship about wife and their mom-in-law. Bah! Is there no interesting roles to give to older women in Japan?

And I don't like Kyoko Fukada ever since that God Gives Me More Time debacle of a jdo. Hate, hate, hate that jdo. I tried to like her in S.O.S. but found myself wishing that the character had been frostbitten to death at the end of the series. (there was a scene where the characters are stuck in a snowstorm, I think. I may had gotten confused with HYD 2. )

So I made it a point nowadays to check out the jdo that have Nakama Yukie, Naohito Fujiki and Esumi Makiko on them. I love anything that have Nakama Yukie (she's so pretty even if she's a bit kayu) and Esumi Makiko (she have such grace and elegance to her that I find attractive) and of course Naohito Fujiki, whom I first watched on Love Revolution. At least I can gaze dreamily on Naohito Fujiki appropriately without a sudden start in realization that the guy is wayyy younger than me.

Whenever I think of Naohito Fujiki, I always remembered Love Revolution. That is my absolute fav show ever. Ohhh. That show gives me goosebumps and butterflies even to this day. There is something so sweet about the jdo. And I fell head over heels with Naohito Fujiki. Especially the part when he called out the heroine name, all lilting and teasing. I swear I could have swoon, if I let myself.

Hmmm. Initially was planning to dedicate a whole post about Love Revolution, however all I could think about is love, butterflies, amazing, love, love, love.

So I am wrapping up this mess of a post about jdo, by saying I am downloading Untouchable starring Nakama Yukie and waiting for Naka nai to Kimeta Hi ( already out but no subs, starring Eikura Nana who is so cute and Naohito Fujiki !!! Both of them better not hook up in this jdo or I would be pissed. ) and Wagaya no Rekishi that have a lot of actors and actresses that I like.

p/s: Well, this post is most certainly link busy. I couldn't be bothered to download pics for your amusement. There were too many jdos, actors and actresses that I had mentioned.

p/s 2: Maybe I can do a bit of a post on Hana Yori Dango later. Hurmmmm.

short post on things I am excited about

except this tuna sandwich I bought from Cold Storage that I had just eaten. I gagged a bit when I'd taken the first bite, but you can give me a maggot sandwich and I would eat it because I had paid money for it. Urgh...

No. 1 thing that I am excited about. Coraline is nominated for a Golden Globes! I like the book, and love the movie. It have an eerie charm about it and shivers me timbers! Great news for Neil Gaiman and filmmakers everywhere whom will now be interested in making movies based on Neil Gaiman works. Pleaseee do a film on Neverwhere, pleaseee.

Also the other thing that make me bite my tongue to prevent me from squealing out loud and at the same time gagging from the horrendous tuna sandwich I am chewing is the awesome, awesome teaser poster of Chuck for Season 3.

Really awesome. It would be even more awesome if Adam Baldwin is also there looking bewildered while glowering (because I loveeee, loveeeee, looooveeee him especially when he glowered). I know some of you would appreciate this poster so I took it from Ausiello and share it to the mass.

Later.

Random Reviews

Book: Contest

Pic taken from fantasticfiction.co.uk

I thought I wouldn't enjoyed it. It is a book about aliens! I hate any stories about aliens. I don't even enjoy E.T. But Effi might complained that the book is dumb down, I say its fine the way it is, because if it try to act anymore clever, I will not enjoyed reading it.

Its a kinda like Aliens VS Predators, plus more aliens! Except for the human participation in it. Light action read I should say.

Reels: Zombieland.

Pic taken from iwatchstuff.com

Yoda is right. It is lulzy. The rules ala-ala Zombie Survival Guide is awesome. Beware of bathroom! Double Tap!

Not as funny as Shaun of the Dead but it have its funny moments. The Bill Murray thing, was equally funny but on the other hand rather stupid. My fav is Woody Harrelson. He is such a badass! I kept on getting him confused with Matthew McConaughey throughout the whole movie because they look kinda similar and McConaughey always played the macho western with swagger and drawl type of roles.

TVs: Nur Kasih

Pic taken from a forum carigold.com which I believe is taken from Nur Kasih official TV3 site.

The end is rather anti climactic don't ya think?

Hahahahaa. Yes, yes I do watch TV Melayu sometimes since my brother is such a fan of them (he will not admit it, and whenever we are in the vicinity he will quickly change the channel to sport because we will tease him mercilessly by singing the song "Gerak Khas". He is in denial that he was a fan. ) I kinda follow the drama and get why everyone are so into it. It is a rather clever, beautifully shot show. And the dialogue does not make you feel like punching the throat of the scriptwriter. But the last episode is kinda meh for me.

Not necessarily a fan though, like say the options of going out vs Nur Kasih, I will pilih to go out (kecuali the last episode sebab even though I do know the ending, I want to see how it all wrapped up).

p/s: The last review I just tacked in, because Random Reviews does not see so random reviews when you reviewed only 2 things.

The love affair with the fangs

*thump* *thump*

Oh, I was just feeling the vein at my throat and I was suddenly pulled to the scene of past week True Blood when Jessica eyes was peeled on the pulsing veins on Hoyt neck. Her lips open slightly, eyes ablaze with hunger and just at the right moment she gulped down the feeling and asked for Tru Blood. Awesome moment. I was feeling blah about the show on its first season but the second part of the first season and this second season is pretty terrific. Genius even. And Jessica walking into the bar looking like a mixture of sultry and innocence, THAT was the highlight of the show, second only to mimic-ing Bill tone and accent.

I had looked through some of the new shows that will be premiering this fall. The only thing that really catch my interest was Vampire Diaries ( a more tone down Twilight-esque series about vampires). Yes, vampires is so IN now thanks to theTwilight mania. But I swear I had always liked them before Twilight, even before Buffy, right around the time of Bram Stoker: Dracula that have Gary Oldman, Winona Ryer (cause I was obsessed with Winona Ryder then) and wooden Keanu Reeves.

Then came Buffy, where I am kinda blah about Angel, because he is so woefully depressing during the whole 3 seasons. Though I loved him in Angel because in that show (Angel), he and the writers are painfully aware of how ridiculously broody he is. But of course the vampire that stake a claim in my heart, is the bleached peroxide blond Spike. James Marsters so revelled playing that character.

In True Blood though, Bill Compton does not set my blood on fire. Nor does Eric. I meant after watching him going through a man intestines with his bare hand and mouth, urgh, no thanks. I like a more refined killer. Can or not like that hor? I do like Sam though. Comel gile tengok a grown man transform to a cute dog. Kawaii~~~

So, back to Vampire Diaries. Took me long enough. Well, why am I interested in Vampire Diaries. The obvious teenager filled angst described as slightly better than Twilight? Heck, I love teenage angst, but that's not it. The heroine is not as creepily needy as Bella? Who knows, maybe the heroine will be worse. But I will be watching because of this

Ian Smoking-Hot Somerhalder.

Yes, Effi, he may looked like a douche. But he is a hot douche in a leather jacket. Some allowance will be made for His Hawtness. I had been pining away after him ever since the early demise of Young Americans, a stupid series in the year 2000 about boys in some elite school. It is also the first time I noticed Kate Bosworth before she becomes all Twiggy-like. In that series Kate Bosworth character fell in love with her half brother (Not Iam Somerhalder). It is all very icky to me.

So Vampire Diaries. Tengok je la if it will be any good eh... After all I would need another vampire heartthrob to replace Spike with.

Cats and Mess

At first this photo was meant for my IG story, but the mess is too much. So I opted not to, and in a whim decided to just post it here. Beca...
